    Women's Rugby Union

There is a new ladies' team at the Wauchope Thunder club, in case there is anyone else around the Hastings Valley who has been looking for somewhere to play.

    Women's Rugby Union

Shame the Wallaroos aren't getting this sort of support: http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/rugby/rugby-union/international/womens-rugby-world-cup-2014-prince-harry-and-chris-robshaw-send-good-luck-messages-to-england-women-and-urge-nation-to-support-the-side-next-month-9579305.html...

    Women's Rugby Union

Used to agree Bruce - I suppose I still don't think it's a great game the way 15s is. Lack of strategy and momentum - but as a showcase for some very athletic and skilled players it works well.

    Women's Rugby Union

Dubai huh!!! What a fantastic game. Glad to see some news about it here and there. Really encouraging stuff for our team going forward. There is still a difference in quality from the top to the bottom of the tournament - but at the top what an abundance of that electrifying feeling that only...

    Women's Rugby Union

Pretty sure they aren't having women's teams at the 2014 Commonwealth Games? Everything I can find says 2018, and maybe 2015 Youth Commonwealth Games.

    Women's Rugby Union

Article on the squad with a little more explanation: http://www.scrumqueens.com/news/wallaroos-world-cup-squad-named "However he must await a decision by the Sevens management on what players, if any, will be released from World Series duties." Ouch. From my perspective winning a World Cup...

    Women's Rugby Union

This was very much the case, along with some retiring older players. They also lost to Warringah in the grand final last year, and the perception was that Warringah always lift a lot for the finals - partly in terms of having their experienced rep players present, but I don't know enough to say...

    Women's Rugby Union

A very outside perspective on the Parramatta Women last year is they had a large number of girls in their squad, allowing them to pick better players, and an attitude of playing for fun in a very ferocious way. It would be good to know what is going on with the Penrith team/s, after the report...

    Women's Rugby Union

In similar news, women's rugby 7s at the University Games this year. Most universities don't have enough rugby players and will be recruiting touch girls etc. to fill teams - hopefully leading to some retention and more girls playing overall.

Know any fit young women who want to go to the Olympics?

It's hard for us, as involved people, to understand how invisible it can be. People just don't see what they aren't looking for or don't want to see. No doubt, but in reality the money is small and the pro setup is often quite poor, with issues around medical insurance and treatment of players...

Know any fit young women who want to go to the Olympics?

Yes, coz from what I've heard it's not being that well run and the first actual games have been postponed for another 6 months. Some of the girls they've attracted may realize they actually enjoy contact sport, not just the image of the LFL. (If I sound a bit bitter, I've read too many...

    Women's Rugby Union

I believe it was 40 games. http://www.susf.com.au/article/rugby-union-women-grand-final-3-9-12 Dour and tough all right. Dumb and dumber. If what they are aiming at is Olympic success, it would be one thing right before the Olympics staying away from possible injury in club rugby. At this...

    Women's Rugby Union

Sydney competition semi-finals at Rat Park yesterday. Sydney Uni beat Waverley 48-nil in a fairly expected way. Warringah over Parramatta 27-nil was more surprising. A full-strength Warringah team will not be easy for Sydney Uni to beat, but my money is still on Students. Photos of one match...

    G&GR GRASSROOTS RUGBY THINK TANK

Why do we have to be the best team in the world to get kids interested in the sport? Clearly this incentive isn't needed for League and AFL where the international competition is extremely minor. Maybe it's not in spite of a lack of international competition that they are popular, but because we...

    G&GR GRASSROOTS RUGBY THINK TANK

Everything about the current size and organizations of Touch and Oztag aside, it is a decent idea to have variants of these/competitions that are tied to rugby. It could be organized together and make it easier for schools to take up rugby. As simple as using the same balls for the boys' rugby...
