Big Ben D has always been great around the field but his scrums leave something to be desired and is not a strong part of his game.

He made the Wallabies and got smashed by the Poms in Perth and then was left out of the squad.

He is nice and agressive and hope he goes well this week.

Daley was part of a very good scrum back in 2010 with Weekes and Fainga'a. Destroyed the Bulls that year.

Much different starting the match at prop (and training all week there) as opposed to coming off the bench. Not saying he is a destroyer, but he can hold up his side and I think his impact on the team elsewhere (a bit of fire and brimstone, leadership, running game) will off-set any possible weakness anyway.

I'm a fan of Mike Harris (I was about the only one advocating for him to go on the EOYT last year), but looking at that back line I wouldn't be picking him at 12. He is super reliable, but I don't think he is the guy to spark the back line. I think you need your defensive captain FTA at 13 then need an excitement machine at 12. Has CFS ever been used at 12?

I guess the above applies if you are trying to outscore the Cheetahs. The other option is to try and shutdown their offloading game and pick Harris at 12 and FTA at 13 to strangle them out of the game.

And just to finish the daylight savings argument I will put up the picture from the BOM which ends it every time. The picture showing Qld And WA gets an hour more sunlight on average every day than south East Australia. When the sun doesn't prematurely set an hour early behind a great dividing range you have plenty of time to enjoy the day.

Getting properly OT now but I've always thought that daylight savings was arse about. Why do you want extra daylight on the longest (daylight hours) days of the year? There's plenty of daylight already. Daylight savings in winter time is where you want the sun setting later. I could get on board with that! :)

Couldn't agree more, Scoey. Here in NSW it's a nightmare when we have a heatwave in January or February, an extra hour of doing nothing while getting scorched and listening to the air-conditioners humming away. Hot days in summer must add millions to the nation's electricity bill, of which the extra hour is really quite wasted. The so-called advantages of daylight saving (extra leisure time for swimming, golf, tennis, etc.) don't hold up when it's stinking hot.

If we were serious about daylight saving we'd have it in winter.

And while I'm at it, could the NSW Government finish daylight saving about three weeks earlier. This crap about getting out of step with Victoria doesn't hold up, what about our brother and sisters north of the Tweed? You listening, Bazza.

It's interesting to note how the Cheetahs perform on tour depending on what game they're at.

2013:

1st game: Lost 45-3 to the Chiefs
2nd game: Won 36-19 against the Highlanders

2012:

1st game: Lost 24-23 to the Brumbies
2nd game: Won 33-26 against the Rebels

2011:

1st game: Won 23-3 against the Waratahs
2nd game: Lost 41-8 to the Reds

2010:

1st game: Lost 45-6 to the Crusaders
2nd game: Draw 25-25 with the Chiefs

You'd be hoping it's more of a 2011 tour than the rest.

We need some rugby! Two more days of waiting.

That doesn't really cover it, though, Charger. ;)

As Scoey said, they add it on for the evenings when the days are already longest. But summer days are actually longer for the SE than WA and QLD.

Admittedly, there are other arguments for and against. :p

Perth is already 15–18 minutes behind the hour meridian so it has a bit of daylight savings anyway.

Brisbane is 11–14 minutes ahead, though, so there may be a case for it there, when the sun is rising at around 4.49 am.

Great opportunity for Rossouw de Klerk

Posted on Wednesday, March 05, 2014

A great opportunity awaits Rossouw de Klerk on his way to Australia to join the Toyota Cheetahs. He takes the place of Coenie Oosthuizen who, because of a neck injury, returns to South Africa and will no longer be available for the Toyota Cheetahs on tour. Coenie will see a specialist on Monday.

The 24-year-old De Klerk made his Vodacom Super Rugby debut in 2010 for the Bulls against the Highlanders, and has played 14 Vodacom Super Rugby matches. He also played 7 Currie Cup matches for the Toyota Free State Cheetahs in 2013.

Well done to Rocket on his selection, hope he makes every post a winner. Shame for Lachie Turner, hope that knee doesn't continue to be troublesome.

Hoping for a good attacking spectacle tomorrow night. I'm sure the team is fired up.

Karma for the headbutt on Tamati Ellison in the Rebels game.

Maybe now we'll get to see if the wheels on Ben Daley's rollerskates go forwards as well as backwards. ;)

Not sure where that's coming from, Horwill has performed better than just about anyone else in the pack so far this season.

If any of the forwards need to step up this weekend it is Quirk. His work rate has been way, way lower than it should be and he's honestly been more or less invisible..in spite of having flowing, beautiful, flaming red locks.

Genia needs to get his shit together immediately. My opinion is worth nothing but I'm completely at the end of my rope with his bullshit.
