Daugunu might be a 15 option although one with plenty of risk (perhaps one with some reward).

If Cooper is back then it’s any of him, Stewart or Paia’aua I guess.

With the Japanese season finishing early (has the regular season finished already?) then the likes of Greene and Debrezeni could be options ? But again they are inside backs. A specialist 15 is damn important.

Toua and Greene would be great to have around - but if the ARU wouldn't let Toua do a Japan/Brumbies combo or Magnay do a Japan/Reds combo, it would be pretty rich of them to let any Aussie playing in Japan play for the Reds now.

If we get someone from Japan it will be as a Japanese marquee player, a foreign developing marquee player or an International marquee player

I remain outraged by the whole Quade scenario, eyes just glaze Red as I think about it.

BUT putting blinkers on, and thinking about Thorn's options:- Next year is a shit sandwich anyway. The lack of home games in the first couple of months leads to a likely restrained result, irrespective of everything else. Chuck in these issues (no Quade no KHunt no/little incoming force, rooky coaching, no evidence of administration ability) and the risk just increases.

He (Brad) has made his bed and should now sleep in it. Increase the quantity of u20 call ups rather than recalling Quade. Let it be a building year - just for something different for the fans. [rolls eyes]

Unless the whole Quade thing was simply a ruse or odd ball tactic of some kind. In which case, whatever was expected to be achieved should be accelerated.

Personally my enthusiasm for the Reds hit bottom, then started mining, a long time ago. Including another youngster in the run on squad will have little statistical input on my feelings.

But if the youngsters can be given a chance and do respond, and if "Brad the Great" matches the crazy expectations of some of his supporters - well, 2011 came from this sort of shit. I may be completely despondent, but I wont stop watching and enthusiasm may ultimately follow success.

I have said it many times over the years since the departure of Link, but here goes again. Nothing would give me greater pleasure than to be proven an idiot in my assessment of the Reds.

I think it will be more than the lack of home games that does you guys in - the first eight games have three home games: v Brumbies, Bulls and Chiefs - sorry guys, but imho, you will struggle even to beat the Buls and no way can you take on the Aust conference leader from last year or any NZ side even on home ground. Then you have the away games - Rebels, Jaguares, Stormers, Brumbies again and Tahs and out of those, maybe one win - Jaguares even though its an away game - forget about the new and improved Rebels, forget the Stormers away and the Tahs away. The only happy thought is that you guys play the Sunwolves twice so fingers crossed you should win those. The rest are impossible dreams - only mho - You finish off with a couple of home games, Rebels - if they are still fit by then will dominate, but the last game of the season is the Sunwolves, so best of luck for a good win then.

Only reason I might disagree is that the Bulls are my second team, and if you've been following them at all they are also in a major transition. Like the rest of SA but worse. Not at Reds level of crap perhaps, but I don't think they will seriously target too many games outside of the hiveldt, let alone trans-ocean travel.

Bulls yes, Sunwolves maybe, Waratahs maybe (also not in great state), Jaguares possible, the rest is not looking good.

More than 5 wins might be considered better than expected. IS THIS REALLY THE REDS?!?

Yes this is the Reds, the breeding ground of rugby union. Where we import our players from other Codes, Countries and States.

the Bulls are my second team,

OK, apologies about quoting myself, but given my two favourite teams are under discussion let me say this. Nollis Morais, the shamed and dropped Bulls ex HC, I would take in a heart beat, over Brad Thorn. No doubt at all. Nup, a heart beat is too long.

More than that, I'd take Nollis, right now, over ANY coach in Aus Super rugby - bar one. A very obvious bloke currently in Melbourne who SHOULD be in Perth. Actually, Wessels v Morias is not a slam dunk for Wessels. Umm imvho. You'd end up there (in Austalia), but it's not slam dunk.

The only reason I think the Reds might win against the Bulls is because it is a home game - but the Jaguares game is not, so no joy there in my book. and five wins is really a pipe dream imho - so Sunvolves, Bulls only - Tahs - even though they are hot and cold most of the time they seem to be mentally stronger and on a good day would take the win, and Jags is away, so really struggling to see a win against the pretty much Argentinian home side early int he season with few injuries - based on whats happening at the club right now and what has been the lead up last year.
