From ARU Media

Australian Boys Sevens Head Coach Hugh Carpenter has selected a 12-man squad - including 2015 National Youth Sevens Championship Player of the Tournament Tom Wright - that is both balanced and features plenty of variety in its ranks. Players from New South Wales represent half the squad with three players from Victoria, two from Queensland and one from Western Australia.

Hugh Carpenter said: “I’m very excited to take this talented group of boys to Samoa. Seven of these boys are also involved the upcoming Australian Schoolboys Program, with five of them making the top team.

“I’m excited to see someone like Henry Hutchison, in action. He adds to the strength of this squad. He brings a load of experience having played first grade for Randwick this year and previously playing two years consecutively for the Australian Schoolboys.”

“A lot of these players will no doubt feature in Super Rugby or the Australian national Sevens program in the coming future which can only be great for Australian Rugby."

The Boys competition at the 2015 Commonwealth Youth Games will take place at the Apia Park Sports Complex between Wednesday 9 September to Friday 11 September, featuring eight teams including Australia, England, Fiji, hosts Samoa and South Africa.

From ARU Media:
Coach Dale Roberson has selected an exciting squad that boasts five Youth Olympic Games Gold Medallists - three of whom are contracted to the national Women's Sevens program. Seven of the players are from Queensland, two from New South Wales and one player from the ACT, Western Australia and South Australia.

Roberson said: "It is a credit to the strength in depth of talent in the Women's game that it wasn't an easy to whittle the numbers down to 12. I've been impressed with the quality that all the players have shown across the various camps at Narrabeen since the initial squad was chosen – there is seriously healthy competition for starting spots.

"While we are using this tournament as a brilliant opportunity to expose the players to international competition, we have plenty of big-game experience in the squad which should stand us in good stead. I’m particularly looking forward to seeing Shanice Parker and Demi Hayes challenge themselves against some of the best girls in the world in their age groups.”

The Girls competition at the 2015 Commonwealth Youth Games will take place at the Apia Park Sports Complex between Wednesday 9 September to Friday 11 September, featuring hosts Samoa, Canada, Fiji, Papua New Guinea and the Cook Island.

He has been tapped on the shoulder by the loig scouts. He has signed with the Sea Eagles for 3 years

Yep - just saw that on Manly Sea Eagles FB page.
A great opportunity for Tom - but a pity another great union talent seemingly locked into the other code (for good).

Could be a shadow player being called up for Tom WRIGHT, who seems to have been tapped on the shoulder by the Team Rehab Selectors (knee).
HJ, SEdwards Qld has the call up according to CYG Aus Team Handbook: http://www.commonwealthgames.org.au/

Simon Kennewell didn't play for Newington in their round 8 AAGPS game against Joeys.

Will he be right in time for the CYG team?

would not want to lose T Wright and S Kennewell from this team. They would have been about the first two chosen.

More changes to the team due to Hutch being called up to the National squad, and Wright's knee injury.

Queenslanders Sam Edwards and Tuaina Tualima have been called up as their replacements.

Coach Hugh Carpenter said: "Sam [Edwards] is a strong hard-running winger who likes contact and already has a fine pedigree. I'm also delighted to welcome in Tuaina [Tualima] to the squad. He's a fine player who will offer a point of difference."
