Rene is a born Taniwha player, I don't think he ever be disiplined enough to fit in at Crusaders. A lot of the Taniwha players are a special breed, and give the impression they loving playing the game for the fun of it, and then perhaps would then enjoy hanging of the end of a good fat joint at aftermatch!

Exactly especially Stomin' Norman. Like the the Prior boys. I think Danny Prior was more suited to playing for The Clan instead of a more regimented team, and always wondered if was the cheif joint roller for the team

Home Jerseys are out:

Haven't seen pix yet but apparently the away jerseys are mostly white to prevent the clashes in recent years e.g. Clan v Bulls, 'canes v Sharks, Loss Bleus v Force & 'tahs.

Also haven't seen pix of the shorts but at least some will feature a timber & hardware chain Australians will be familiar with (not the Green one, but): the one I work for has had to dump a heap of merch with our logo on it, we haven't even been allowed to give it away since 1/01/21. There go my potential freebie match & corporate hospitality tix, too!

Makalio out for the season.

Crusaders hooker Andrew Makalio has been ruled out for the upcoming Super Rugby season.

Makalio injured his neck following a collision while playing for Tasman towards the end of the 2020 Mitre 10 Cup.

Subsequent investigations and specialist opinions have determined that surgery is required to manage this.

The surgical date has yet to be set, but the Crusaders have confirmed that Makalio will be out for the Super Rugby Aotearoa and Super Rugby Trans-Tasman competitions. His return to play process will become clearer following surgery.

Bay of Plenty hooker Nathan Vella has joined the Crusaders squad as injury replacement for the full 2021 Super Rugby season.

And Parsons has retired on medical advice.

Former All Black and Blues hooker James Parsons has pulled the pin on his playing career due to lingering concussion symptoms.

The 34-year-old was late last year named in the Blues’ squad for the 2021 Super Rugby Aotearoa campaign, but has made the call to retire after receiving medical advice.
