2025 Super Rugby Under 16 and 19 series (u16's, 27th Sept - 2nd Nov) (u19's, 13th Sept - 5th Oct)

This is some side. Given the success last years group had and the youth of some of these boys I really think we've got a golden generation coming through. Just need to hold our pro game together and get those development systems in place, but they should all be primed to benefit massively from the 27 world cup windfall.

Got sloppy in the 2nd half. Probably would have put on 80 if our lineout was better.
That TJ Talaileva is a big boy! Got penalised for no arms wrap but looked like he just smoked him with a big shot.

Pritchard was better handled today by the kiwis but man he is electric off the mark!
Their no.8 was very solid over the 2 games he outplayed Lemoto I thought.

NZ 8 is an athlete through and through but Lemoto did take about 3 defenders with him and makes post contact meters every time.

NZ 8 and 9 can hold their heads high. Would have been A LOT worse without them.

Pritchard was quieter but seemed marked tighter. Bloomfield had a bigger game today and he seemed more comfortable battling a centre up front and playing after contact. I think Pritchard is a fantastic Centre but could be an absolutely phenomenal Fullback with his feet and ability to read space.

I think Raviyawa had a bigger impact for his team than Lemoto but not because he was better than Lemoto but more because there were a number of very good performers for the Aus U18s it was harder to single him out.

Good call. Lemoto, Uys, Orr, Ross all outstanding in the piggies. Only flaw that could have punished Aus was LO throws but with big leads and lack of contested LOs it was play on.

Grover and Conway seemed the primary playmakers and they used McKays boot at 10 well. Also quite a simple job for McKay when you have Centres like that. Done overplay it, get it out.

Folkes has 7s written all over him. Made every tackle and elite off the mark speed.

I was very impressed by Ross. Very abrasive lock. Which is something I like in forwards. I also like Haslam, Cleary and Ryland from the Schools team for much the same reason. It's a testament to the quality of Pritchard and Bloomfield that Glassie Glassie went from the U18s squad to the Schools team. As he was a class above his opposition and would have very easily been prominent against the young Kiwis.

Wouldn't mind Folkes to 7s. I'd add Risati alongside him. I think they'd both develop well in that environment.

Sadly with Risati he’s odds on to end up with the Eels but we see him again next year and I reckon at 10 or 15.

We’ll never keep all these kids. Australia has an environment that’s heavily contested for talent with Rugby and League. As long as Rugby can retain 75% I’d be happy.

Yeah, he's likely off to League as well. Which is a shame as he looks a solid prospect as a playmaker. Which is something we are in dire need of. Look at the Wallabies for instance. Retaining 75% of them should be the goal. And if we can get a few years of solid performances over the Kiwi lads that should be a decent indicator of a good cohort emerging.

This NSW 8 is a large human at this age.

NSW playing with their food a bit here and the ref seems to have the sides on different tolerances. NSW getting pinged for anything 50/50 and the Force a bit of wiggle room.

Perhaps but it's something that will come up when a team is as dominant as the NSW 16s tend to be. There's also the tendency to become laxed in effort and discipline when the opposition is so far behind and there's little threat of losing.

Under 16
FT 96-7

Last week they beat the Brumbies 97-0.

Surely with the 16’s NSW has to be split into 1’s and 2’s next time.
Spread the talent out especially with kids hedging their bets by playing both codes.

Apparently there was a prop that turned out for one of the reds U15 teams, Will Forrest, who’s reportedly 196cm and 130kg! The kid is in gr 9! France will be calling no doubt.

That’s absurd.

This kid was a handful at 8 and the. I saw the forearm Tatts on him which in the 16s is unique to go along with a shaved head.

there were a few lazy moment from 50-60 min when NSW dropped the ball for 2-3 certain tries. Kind of glad tbh. Nobody wants to see 100 on the score in a 70 min game.

Goal line stand wins it for NSW.

Oates has all the talent but need to sometime pair it back. Cause you can throw it doesn’t mean it has to be.

He should be the Aus 20s 10. In comp with Fowler from Tah A if he’s still young
