utr, I genuinely don't understand that argument. From an outsider looking in, Dargaville is easily the 3rd best winger at the Brumbies after Tomane and Speight. His utility value shouldn't prevent him from deservedly starting.

All it means is you can play a specialist winger and/or gamebreaker like Ah-Wong in that 23 jersey, rather than an admittedly quality but primarily cover player like an Andrew Smith, since Dargaville can switch inside after 50-65 minutes if necessary.

Dargaville hasn't featured in the NRC or brumbies trial games nearly as much as Ah Wong. whether he's injured or not I don't know, but Dargaville was easily the 3rd best last season.

However It's a new season, and one would have to assume Ah Wong is the next in line based on recent game time and form. When Dargaville comes back into training and contention etc then all bets are off, and that could take only 1 session at brumbies training, and that may not happen for weeks depending on Speights 7s/15s schedules so this whole conversation is moot, but at this stage, AhWong has been getting the nod so you must assume he would get first choice.

Thanx I look forward to watching him
Play in 7s and a the Brumbies. Who is the likely replacement winger for Henry then st the Brumbies ?

Lausii Taliauli. Coleman is also an option as he provides cover like Dargaville.

Forgot Dargaville, I thought he was a centre thou, and Ah Wong was a 10/12. Both good players, I rather see a specialist winger to be honest, I guess s then its Taliauli... Need a big winger in super rugby, Coleman isn't the guy for that job with all his heart & talents... likely to be the 15 again this year.

Henry has reportedly already dropped 5 kg training for 7s. If he continues the 7s involvement, he will presumably be even lighter by the time Rio comes around. Going on his performance in the Reds' trial recently, I'd have to say he will probably lose his test spot for the remainder of this year. May even have trouble getting a starting spot in the Brumbies (unfortunately).
I read the article about it, he said his at his optional weight for both, his not going to get to small, he just going to keep the power but be a bit lighter

Ah Wong is a 10/12?
I think he is an outside back utility..

Well thats a good thing then... I'm sure Larkham will have them up for it... Brumbies need another 15, perhaps Dargaville is that guy, Robbie did a good job last season but needs to be covered...

Toua is looking ok at 15, but like you i don't mind Dargaville. I think Coleman is still in the mix and has a place but they need to consider who he is matched against prior to selecting him.

Link said a while ago it takes players a good chunk of time to manage the transition to and from 7s

7s units are significantly leaner and that body shape isn't great for 15s in contact

Impressive defensive statistics from last year's Super comp, courtesy of the Brumbies' website.

The Brumbies conceded a league-low 261 points across the 2015 regular season and though they conceded 48 points across their two finals fixtures the points were matched exactly as they reached the semi-finals from sixth position.

By limiting their opposition’s second phase play last season they stymied them into low scoring affairs. The Brumbies conceded an average of 6.2 clean breaks and 7.6 offloads across the 2015 season, the lowest in the league for both categories, and that lead to more league-lows in points (17.2) and tries (1.4) conceded per game.

Even more oppressive was their form at home, where they conceded an average of just 11.6 points per game before their final home match of the season saw them leak 37 points against the Crusaders. They began their 2015 campaign with a 47-3 home victory against the Queensland Reds, the first of three matches across the season where they would go on to restrict their opposition to three points or fewer. Those three matches comprised only five matches across the entire season in which a team held their opposition to three points or fewer.

Aquis Brumbies 0-20 21-40 1ST HALF 41-60 61+ 2ND HALF TOTAL
Tries Conceded 5 7 12 5 9 14 26
Rank 1st 1st 1st 1st 4th 1st 1st
Super Rugby 8.8 10.2 19 11.7 11.5 23.2 42.2
2015 Average

The Brumbies defence proved overwhelming across the entire 80 minutes for many teams and there was only one quarter where they weren’t the leading defensive team across the competition. They conceded nine tries from the 61st minute onwards, the fourth most of any team but only two behind joint leaders Bulls, Chiefs, and Hurricanes.

Hooker Josh Mann-Rea and flanker David Pocock were the crux of the Brumbies wall, both players boasting effective tackle rates above 96%. Inclusive of Pocock, who lead the team with 150 tackles for the season, the Brumbies boasted eight players with final tackle counts above 100 for their 2015 campaign, no other team had more.

Does anybody have the Brumbies Runners team list that played Penrith over the weekend?

Rory Arnold left the field on Friday with what appeared to be a leg/knee injury. Scott Sio appeared to finish with some sort of leg injury. Aiden Toua had a dead arm for quite a few minutes late in the game. I think Scott Fardy suffered a knock to the neck area, and Matt To'omua looked to be hurt also.

Any news on any of these players (or others I might have missed)? Will they all, or any of them, be right for the Tahs?
