Round 8 of the CAS comp today with:

Knox 38 defeated Barker 14
Aloys 53 defeated Trinity 12
Waverley 38 defeated Cranbrook 12

Follwing these games, CAS points table shows:

Knox 13
Waverley 13
Aloys 8
Trinity 8
Barker 3
Cranbrook 3

With 2 rounds to go it is a case of whether Knox or Waverley slip up or whether they end up as Joint Premiers.
Next week Knox play Aloys, who beat them in the wet in the first round. Could be interesting!

2nd last round of the CAS competition yesterday with results:

Waverley 38 Barker 0
Cranbrook 25 Trinity 11
Knox 7 Aloys 0

It looks to be a joint Premiership coming up for Waverley & Knox.

The Knox/Aloys game was a real arm-wrestle. Unfortunately a stop-start affair with injuries & shorm-arm penalties from the Ref.
After only 5 minutes Knox lost their LHP,Nick Curtis(Australia `A' selection) with a suspected broken ankle. Scrum rearranged but did not have dominance it normally has.
Nil-all at half-time but deadlock broken 5 minutes later with a superb side-line burst by 1/2 Nick Stirzaker going over in corner. Ben Cannon converted from side-line. Only score in a game dominated by great defence from both teams.

As predicted, the final round of the CAS competition ended with a Joint Premiership to Knox and Waverly.
The Final round saw comprehensive wins to Waverly over Trinity and Aloys over Barker.
Knox struggled somewhat against Cranbrook, eventually winning 19-7(3 tries to 1).
Penalty count against themaround 25-8 and 1 prop yellowcarded(not allowed back on field for over 15 minutes) and then the other prop red-carded 5 minutes afterwards. Red card was for walking over opposition player who had fallen due to pressure from a rolling maul?

Should mention that normal Knox LHP,Nick Curtis did break his foot(3 metatarsals) the prtevious week & is now out of Australia `A' team to play Tonga in September.
