Will this mean the ARU annual reports will include even more unbudgeted expenses for travelling?
Not when twiggy says he will inject millions into the Aru

Forrest's letter .

http://nedlandsrugby.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/Letter-to-the-Cameron-Clyne-and-ARU-Board-of-Directors_-Mr-Andrew-Forres-.pdf

18 August 2017

Mr Cameron Clyne

Chairman

Australian Rugby Union

Ground Floor,29-57 Christie Street

St Leonards, NSW, 2065

Dear Chairman and ARU Board of Directors,

I am a major supporter of rugby and our national team, the Wallabies. I am also a philanthropist and

business leader who has become deeply concerned by your disrespectful behaviour to rugby, its national support base and blatant disregard for good governance.

You fabricated deception by stating you would meet me after the arbitration but instead chose to attempt to eliminate the Western Force the instant the arbitration concluded.

This cynical behaviour was met with an injunction to offer a final opportunity for a collaborative discussion. This was also met with rejection by you. You have consistently refused to release the “big spreadsheet” that purportedly supports your decision to eliminate the second best performing Australian Super Rugby side, with the fastest growing grass roots support base. It is already the third largest in Australia.

I have made it abundantly clear to the ARU, that my support extends nationally but is predicated on the national union conforming to the basic values of the game which seeks to nurture, support, and grow rugby on a national footprint.

This is not leadership. It is shockingly poor governance. The current crisis you have created is a neglect of your duties as Directors and a fundamental breach of your duties to the game.

As an Australian philanthropist and businessman, who is offering my full support to the Western Force, to RugbyWA and rugby generally in Australia, your approach to hiding behind litigation, instead of leadership, is personally and deeply upsetting to me. I do expect to be treated respectfully and I do not expect to be lied to, then repeatedly, denied an audience with you.

The continual refusal to consider alternative solutions to the short-sighted and morally corrupt process you have, secretly, undertaken to exterminate the Western Force, is a terrible indictment of your stewardship.

Next week, RugbyWA will contest in the New South Wales Supreme Court, the Arbitrator’s interpretation of the “Alliance Agreement” which you have used to attempt to terminate the Western Force and to avoid meeting with me. Rugby in Australia and Western Australia deserves a future unstained by your falsehoods and incompetence.

Win or lose the appeal, my support for the Western Force will not waiver and action to overturn your irresponsible decision will continue.

I remain willing to meet with you to confirm the future financial viability of the Western Force, and to assist you in making a decision that has the support of your members and the broader Australian public.

Chairman, if you continue to refuse to meet with me, and if the ARU Board are unwilling to compel

you, then I call on the Board to immediately resign and be replaced with leaders who are willing to

act in the best interest of Australian rugby.

Yours sincerely,

Andrew Forrest AO

Someone will still have a dig about him being an evil miner and having the audacity to be rich.

Might get a few but the majority of Australian rugby fans think twiggy Forrest is the biggest breath of fresh air for Australian rugby seen in decades. Most of us long suffering fans have been frustrated that no influential figures have stood up to demand change that is much needed in how rugby is managed in this country. Finally got someone influential, respected (and of course mega rich) willing to take the fight up to the ARU. Supporters of the ARU whether they be east or west coast are very few in number and most are fully behind twiggy and the force.

"Push for senate inquiry into Force axing

Western Australian Liberal Senator Linda Reynolds will call for a Senate Inquiry into the Australian Rugby Union’s decision to cull the Western Force from Super Rugby, with Federal Minister for Sport Greg Hunt also lobbying for an investigation.

Senator Reynolds told The Australian yesterday she will seek the support of the Senate for an inquiry as soon as the upper house resumes in a fortnight. With the NSW Supreme Court to determine tomorrow whether to grant the Force leave to appeal against the decision, events seem to be gathering pace around the ARU’s controversial call to cut the Force from next year’s competition.

Hunt also weighed into the controversy yesterday in support of the Force. “We have an overwhelming preference for five Australian teams as part of the Super Rugby competition,” he said.

“The loss of a team for any state is devastating for both players and supporters. I would urge the ARU to work with the Force and the WA Government to look for a five team solution. I have now raised the issue with the ARU.”

He also supported Senator Reynolds’ call for an investigation of the process that led to the decision. “Any external review that charted a path to this outcome would be welcome.”

The Force’s billionaire backer Andrew “Twiggy” Forrest will meet today with ARU chairman Cameron Clyne and two directors, John Eales and Brett Robinson, in Adelaide to determine whether any support he can give the game nationally and in the West can persuade the ARU to reverse its decision.

And, as expected, the West Australian Government has warned the ARU it will sue it for the $100 million-plus it has poured into the Force — a move that could bankrupt the cash-strapped national body.

Senator Reynolds put the ARU on notice with an adjournment speech to the Senate last week at which she called for the ARU to publicly release information relating to the board’s decision to cut the Force, in particular “the big spreadsheet” it claimed demonstrated the decision was in the best interests of Australian rugby.

Yesterday, she upped the ante.

“There are serious questions that need to be answered on how the ARU came to this decision and I believe a Senate inquiry can bring much-needed transparency to the process, ”she said."

What an absolute clusterfuck.

Twiggy should just go the nuclear option, stage a hostile takeover of the ARU. Buy the fluffybunnys, sack everyone involved, and go round to league, football, cricket and AFL and poach the 100 best sports administrators, managers, marketing specialists and anyone else important.

Splash out a bit of extra cash and hire the best coaches available from everywhere in the world, throw the sink and everything else at them. Set each province up with a genuine, experienced head coach and assistants.

Own the damn sport and then you can drain the swamp of it's od boys bullshit and turn rugby into a profitable sport again. He'd make his money back if we were dominating like we used to.

I don't think the depth of his commitment was fully understood east of Eucla. I expect they'll hear about it today.

I hope he makes them buy lunch.

It is about probably all the ARU can afford at this point.

Cameron Clyne at Marleston BP picking up some curried egg sandwiches and coffee chills. Muttering something about can't go over the $25 limit on his ARU credit card for lunch with Twiggy! Can't afford another investigation!

I saw him at the airport, he was cable tied into a wheelchair with a gag. Nobody and Robbo were pushing it. Clyne's enthusiasm was clear in his eyes.

Twiggy is now worth somewhere north of $5 Billion. The Super League war cost close to $600M. A war with the ARU won't cost that much but doing what some posters are speculating is going to cost a hell of a lot. I have no doubt Twiggy is going to put a substantial amount in to help rugby if he wants, but we've got to be realistic he's not going to be ploughing 100s of millions in.

I think it'll be more like what he has offered with Own the Force. He'll be willing to supercharge what the community, or at least what many others put in. I think he'll have other wealthy people ready to help if the vision is powerful enough. If you added up the net worth of all the rugby fans in Australia you'd get to a pretty high number. Create goodwill and some urgency and there's a lot of money that could come into the game.
