Anyone have a hot tip?

I am putting my hard earned on Mad Rush- it ticks all the boxes (distance, form, jockey, trainer, barrier) and is very similar to Purple Moon who ran a close 2nd in last years race. Next best are C'Est La Guerre, Nom du Jeu, Zipping and Ice Chariot.

Forget about Septimus- one-paced Irish plodder who will not adjust to Australian conditions, especially with a foreign jockey and 58.5kg on his back.

Yes, but that's what I get for not wearing protection... Oh... the horsey thing. Race that stops a nation and all that.

I no longer follow the Melbourne Cup simply because I now work for a company who don't allow sinking the piss during working hours, and don't believe in long lunches. There I said it.

There are a heap of latin-inspired names in there, but its hard to go past Barbaricus just because it makes me think of Conan comics.
