couldnt find an NFL BoofBall thread? Every year I plan on catching up on this shit as was fanatical about it during the 80's - Chicago Bears and Jim McMahon - but every year seem to forget about it and hello, the season flies by in about 2 months and then its gone for another year

today's playoff game was the Green Bay Peckers versus The Cardinals from fuck knows where.

Great name though. "Cardinals". Teams should go the holy route more often with names. eg "The Green Bay Holy Route"

    Green Bay Papal Florists XI

Green Bay Bishop Bashers on 3

    Green Bay Bell Ringers

oops maybe Green Bay Holy Route for the win there.

anyway what a game today. Went for about 5 hours. Hail Mary's, drama, running, overtime etc. Too bad i didnt really follow the OT rules so the game kind of abruptly just ended (each team gets the ball unless the first team scores straight away. They stopped the bloke. Fine, so other team will have a chance with ball. No, dumbarse. Attacking team still has 3 more downs)

There's probably chicks all over the USA right now who just made the same mistake as me and are pestering their blokes about it.

    Oh shit, there's probably not.

anyway, maybe no one here gives a shit about the boofball. Here's a painting I painted all by myself with no assistance from anyone to tide them over till they find some other thread to read:

No, I'm quite partial to the game. Broncos fan. Though, admittedly I prefer College Football where I follow Stanford. The 'Arizona' Cardinals are who you are referencing. Though they have probably been someone else in the past. Like the St Louis Rams who were originally the LA Rams and apparently from next season on will be again.

On a related note, evidently we're about to get our own professional league. The National Gridiron League has plans to launch in August. Only learned of it today after a FB friend liked it.

LA Rams, I remember them from the 80's when I was into it. Eric Dickerson?

mainly though I remmeber them for my teenage mates and i finding this promo song of theirs uproariously funny back in the day.

oops, "Stanford", that reminds me, forgot to finish my going-nowhere rubbish story from the K.Hunt drugs thread from last year. now where was i

4 days later we made it to LA (Stanford? Is that near LA? fuck knows, and I sure as hell didnt because my brain wasn't too well tethered to my head by then) Somehow we'd lost 2 of the guys so it was just me and F.Zappa. Tooling along the motorway and he says "turn off here, gotta make a pick up." So we sidle off into quiet leafy suburbia, very nice, plush, looks pricey. After a few minutes he emerges with what looks like a fucking huge Xmas tree. He opens the back of the wagon and rams the whole thing in, 2 metres long, takes up entire space, also encroaching halfway towards windshield over my shoulder. Oh shit. Lucky the back windows were all tinted black. It was marijuana. Alarm bells start going off. The smell, holy shit, really? I dont want to get deported to Mexico. Again haha.

Anyway then deadhead says "off to Stanford for the football game" He also somehow now has hundreds of white long-sleeve Stanford t-shirts he's planning on selling at the game. We check into a motel near the stadium. (I'm thinking wft do I now live with this guy? His brain is so addled he seems to be just living from second to second)

In broad daylight we comically daftly lug the huge fucking dope bushes inside the motel room. Jesus. Then it's off to the game. Watch the game in a brain haze from behind posts. Dark now. The deadhead is gone. Man, why am I not surprised. Was he even there at all? Wander back to motel. Fuck knows how I found the place. I dont have room key. I do have my car key though. I better. Everything I fuckin' own (one duffel bag haha) is in that car.

So stand around like a wet fart for a bit, pondering options.

    Then I just drive off.

    Never see the guy again.

Next day I look in the back and see I still have the 100's of Stanford t-shirts.

    What a stupid ending.

oops missed Pats/Broncos semi, surprised Mr America Patriot Tim Brady Super Bowl Guy USA isnt going to the SuperBurl.

anyone see what went wrong for the Patsies?

watched Panthers/Cardinals one oh God, the Panthers beat those children of questionable papal divinity so, so badly. The head, the face, the neck, the nuts, the callipygous hind-quarters, just everywhere. 50 points. They took them into the Cardinals vestibule and abused the hell out of them in their tight little shiny pants. Cassocks over the head, toggles all askew, what a mess. Years of therapy ahead after that.

The Broncos defence was just brilliant. They didn't allow the Pats to get any sort of running game going and the Broncos secondary gave the Pats receivers little space or opportunity.

The Broncos pass rushers were forcing Brady to pass earlier than optimal and he just couldn't get anything going. He got smashed quite a few times for his troubles and threw a couple of picks.

Peyton did enough on offence and apart from turning it over once, was solid enough and found Owen Daniels in the endzone twice. Good solid decision making and didn't take too many risks with his defence controlling the game so well.

That said, the Panthers were fantastic and they should smash the Broncos in two weeks time.

Apparently Brady got hit more times than any other QB in any other rgame all year.

He was also the Pats leading rusher, with just 13 yards

I initially thought of the 4 teams with a shot, the two I'd rather see made it.

I just wanted the Cardinals to miss out to spite them for knocking off the Meatpackers. But Cam Newton is such a colossal arsehat/superstar by the 4th quarter I was kind of turning around to the Cardinals.

Also a Stanford fan. Got me fucked how McCaffrey didn't get the Heisman.

The average for the season was 12. Brady got hit 23 times in that game. As a Broncos fan and someone who has no affinity for Brady. I enjoyed watching him scamper about.

Manning just keeps getting it done! 4th super bowl with 2 different teams and 4 different coaches is pretty remarkable.

Are you confident? The pundits aren't giving you much of a chance.

I'm hopeful. I'm a huge Peyton fan. While I've always followed the Broncos the Colts were always my 2nd team because he was in the seat. So, I'm hopeful that the greatest QB in NFL history is able to go out with a another ring.

The key will be for the Denvers D to not only maintain its outstanding season but to take it up a notch.

The Broncos are my second favourite team but I don't really have much confidence. The Panthers have been amazing and I think the NFC is much stronger than the AFC at the moment.

I don't think Peyton will be able to produce enough points and I can't see the Broncos defence shutting down the Panthers to the level they did the Patriots.

Cam Newton's showmanship comes with so much arrogance that it certainly

can make him hard to like. His form this year has been so unbelievable though that it's hard to really dislike watching him play. He's brilliant in everything he does.

Derrick Henry rushed for 28 touchdowns this season. Pretty hard to go past him as the Heisman winner.

That's why I'm hopeful but not confident. Manning hasn't got the arm he once had and the Denver D will need to rise to another level altogether. Newton has been dynamite all season and much of his arrogance has stemmed from that. I think the Denver D can shut the Panthere down but again it will need to be at a whole new level.

    BRONCOS!!! BRONCOS!!! BRONCOS!!!

I said the Denver D would need to rise to another level and how about the display tonight!!!

Absolutely smothered the Panthers and Newton. Just dominant.

Who else here saw the game?

The Broncos defence was asleep in the 1st half, then woke up and whacked the panthers after that
Trevor Siemian looked okay for hist 1st start (could have thrown another TD if not for Ealy reacting in time & the 1st INT was a great play by the panthers DT)
Cam Newton got an utter clobbering
    C.J. Anderson - on fire
    Andy Janovich - awesome FB
Von Miller got held A LOT
DeMarcus Ware had a major hand with the 2 sacks

    (I'm also a Broncos fan)
