A few key players out for Vikings, but still a strong starting lineup and some good young backs on the bench in Lonergan, Lolesio and Hansen.........

It's going to be a tight one.

Tom will be doing good to hold Fereti at bay. Think the Rising could win the battle of the forwards, especially with that backrow, and take the win in a tight contest.

Should be a good contest though with a lot of open attacking backline play by both teams.

15 mins in.......

Rising 7 - Vikings 0

Peni and Leber both blew what should've been a definite try to the Vikings.

Swain does a stellar job to hold up a Rising player to get a Vikings scrum 5m out, but then they get penalised for on live viewing seemed to be a very pedantic scrum penalty? I would've liked to have seen a replay..................

Tom English must be confused as to which team he's playing for as he's entered from the Vikings side of the ruck a few times, and has finally been pinged for it.

I'm not sure if its the changes to the team but the Vikings look very disjointed, and their set piece a mess.............

The Rising a lot sharper in attack.

And Tuipulotu scores against the post and it's 14 - 0.

A cracking run from Hawera from just in front of their own goal line, followed by a perfect kick from Taliauli sees Powell tackling a Rising player just in front of their goal line, and the subsequent Vikings pressure at the breakdown leads to a penalty.........

Vikings get a penalty try from a driving maul, and a yellow card to Rangi for collapsing.

14- 14 at HT.

Someone correct me as I might be acting like a one eyed Vikings supporter, but I don't see how that was a yellow card for Mcinerney?

A penalty, sure......... but a yellow card for a stock standard ruck penalty in the middle of the field?

Taliauli slaps down a Rising pass near the goal line and it's another yellow card and a penalty try.........

Rising 21 - 14

Simone gets lucky as he puts in a terrible kick which Ruru spills (neither player having a great game), Ikitau recovers and scores in the corner..............

Hawera hits the post and the Rising just in front 21 - 19

Surprise surprise...........

Mcinerney scores off a Vikings maul.

Vikings in the lead for the first time tonight.

Lolesio misses the conversion - 24 - 21

A different story in the scrums in the second half.........

Vikings scrum puts the Rising on rollerskates and after driving them back 10 metres they get a penalty.

Mcinerney bags his second try from a maul.........

Lonergan converts from out wide.

Vikings 31 - 21

With 2 mins left that should be the game.

The Rising do what they've done so well in the second half and drop the ball, and that's the game.

I think the YC was for rolling the ball away after the whistle had sounded. In any event, it was very soft.

Ah k, I didn't have the commentary on and didn't see that bit so thought he was just being carded for what seemed like a genuine turnover attempt executed wrong...............
