Don't mind that team. Biggest question for mine will be who starts with Simmons in the row. But with Rodda just coming back from injury Douglas is probably most likely.

TSR, that's what I was thinking. Though then again, Stiles is looking for in tight running forwards, which is something that is NOT in my team, both Rodda and Houston have been identified for that strength, so one of the 2 could easily start.

Ready's fall from grace continues, from the Wallaby's to playing club competition! Have to admit, I'm glad Mafi gets another crack, he's enthusiasmwas fantastic to see from a forward wearing a red jersey for once!

I reckon the Tahs are going to get pumped.

Hopefully last Friday was the nadir but they will need a big improvement not to lose by 15 points or more away against the Reds.

Tui did well but still surprised Douglas was left out. Would have thought this was the perfect opportunity for him to 'prove himself', in a big match against his old team, head to head v skelton.

Happy to see stewart get a run again over mcintyre but I think in this war of attrition, with a lot of forwards in both teams needing to put their hands up in front of Cheika, a 6/2 split would have been the way to go.

I was impressed by Mafis first outing, deserves another crack.

Ready is a funny subject, I commented during the 2016 NRC that his game had dropped right off, and his accuracy at the set piece, which was good during the Super Rugby season then fell apart in the NRC. At the completion of the Super Rugby season he was in Wallaby contention, but during the NRC Latu rightfully leapfrogged him.

Magnay on the bench is a big call IMO, he has played little rugby recently and I wonder whether he would be better suited with more game time in the QPR.

Reds showed they can score plenty of points, more than the Tahs are likely to score. Key will be which side manages their flaky defence better - neither team has really looked like putting that aspect together for close to 80 mins.
I agree - Reds by at least 15, and could blow out much more, especially if / when the Tahs set piece goes to shit.

Queensland Reds banking on interstate clash to draw massive crowd​

THE Reds are desperately shooting for their first 20,000-strong crowd since 2015 to rev up Saturday night’s interstate clash and their finances.​

Average attendances to Reds matches at Suncorp Stadium have halved since the halcyon days of 2012 when they shook up the Brisbane Broncos by outdrawing their rugby league cousins for the first time.​

​

It was once guaranteed that rugby’s feisty, high-stakes interstate clash against the NSW Waratahs would draw the code’s biggest crowd of the season but the landscape is in flux.​

​

Fringe Reds fans have been hesitant to flock through the turnstiles this season for fear of another false dawn after three lame seasons.​

​

Matches against the table-topping Crusaders (17,931) and the champion Hurricanes (17,439) have drawn only lukewarm crowds to Suncorp Stadium even with the Kiwi fan factor.​

​

It’s a stark contrast to 2012 when the Reds were the hottest ticket in town with average attendances of 34,217 trumping the Broncos for the season.​

​

Not winning back-to-back games since 2014 has sucked all momentum out of the Reds’ rebuilding their fan following but coach Nick Stiles wants Saturday night to turn the tide.​

“Winning is the priority and back-to-back successes would give us some real momentum for the back half of the season,” Stiles said.​

​

The Reds have not drawn a crowd above 20,000 since the 25,841 turnout against the Chiefs in June, 2015.​

​

Last year’s interstate attendance was affected by rain but the 17,247 crowd was poor for a Sunday afternoon game when 2015 drew 27,199 to the most traditional of derbies.​

strong bench but not a great scrum pack (hopefully kepus inclusion will give them a fighting chance). Reds would do well to keep it in tight for a couple phases longer.
