It’s a bit poor there wasn’t even a match thread for the final, but I guess everyone was a bit deflated after last night.
I tuned in to watch, it was a bloody entertaining game to watch actually. Lots of errors but lots of enterprise as well. The Tahs prevailed of course, just send the 2026 SRP (Super Rugby Pacific) trophy to us already

It was a cert that the Tahs win the pre season trial trophy.
Few guys definitely showed they have a future at the next level that wouldn’t have earlier for NSW. Harvey was great, Hendren again elusive and Fowler looked calm for a very young 10.
Force will need to work on that Scrum. They had to just eat getting pushed around because they seemed to avoid bringing on the bench Front Row.

I mean, the fact that one wasn't created earlier in the week probably speaks volumes about the levels of interest, and that it wasn't just an issue coming off of last night.
Engagement with the comp generally has been lower than I think anyone anticipated. I know more pro rugby is ultimately a win, but it feels like they really fumbled with the execution.

Didn’t see the game but Marley needs to work on his scrummaging. I don’t feel like he’s improved all that much. He’s very good around the park though.
Probably good for Aus rugby that these teams went at it. As the weaker Australian sides they need all the prep they can get.

You can just never legitimately compete with the top half if you don’t have a an above average Scrum. You just piggy back sides out of trouble and put yourself under YC pressure. Obviously you add Robertson and HJH (Harry Johnson-Holmes) is decent enough… everyone else is relatively un proven or am I missing a glaring one.

I’ve watched with a hit n giggle attitude as a Tahs fan. Was watching to see individuals step up and show promise which has been the good part. Fringe players show their worth and 4-5 of them deserve a decent shot IMO. Worth it for that.
Winning a comp is great for the side themselves but fan wise it’s a fizer with the structure of it.
For all the Donaldson Flyhalf chat he couldn’t have had a better opportunity to put on a show before EOYTs and it was fairly flat to say the least.

I really want him to come good for his own sake as much as anything but he’s had a bit over a dozen starts in 7 years. Injuries have stuffed him but also mean he’s a raw.

He wasn't really the issue at scrum time. Force tight head was terrible, gave the rest of the scrum no chance
Thought Pearce was one of the best players on the field to be honest. He has a hell of a motor, managed to get back and make a try saving tackle in the 70th minute after a Tahs break. Kailea made a big difference when he came on too, don't understand why Lambert keeps being put ahead of him

Yeah as a Donaldson fan he had a shocker. Looked like he was trying to press and do too much to try and impress but nothing really came off. One of those days

Burey has also been in great form and it was quieter for him.
As much as we could say the Force missed a chance the Tahs pack did step up and get the chocolates in that battle. Playmakers rarely dominate if the pack doesn’t have ascendancy’s
Grealy very good under the high ball is pleasing to see since no players in Aus seem capable of catching a contested high ball. (Yes I saw Daugunu take one in the Bled that got all the commentators hot and bothered through surprise)

Tahs won that on the back of a forward pass (back inside from Sid Harvey in the lead up to the try that brought the scores equal). As far forward as the infamous JOC (James O'Connor) (?) pass to Daugunu for the Wallabies.

From me as a Force Fan perspective:
" Now that the dusted has settled and the heartbreak from yesterday has subsided, we can start to move forward again on a positive trajectory.
Yes we did not win and should have and could have.
However, I am not sure many gave us a chance of making the final before the competition started so that in itself is a win.
I thought it was great having the non playing Force Wallabies at the game and mixing with the players and spectators alike after the game.
Tip the hat to Wanneroo, the ground was immaculate, event was well put together and I enjoyed having Heath Tessman as the ground announcer.
Sad to say goodbye to Fines and Princep, but at least being allowed on the field after the game allowed for proper goodbyes.
Not sure that any of the non contracted players really put their hand up for a super contract during the competition except Viliame Fine, who we really appeared to miss yesterday, and I would liked to have seen a bit more of Wes Thomas but I think our hooking stocks are fairly well catered for.
Based on the whole competition Harris, Ekuasi, Poolman, Nofoagatotoa look certain for contract extensions, if not already signed but not yet announced.

That GF was a great watch, Berry reffed it well, kept himself out of it and let the boys play. Love the park footy vibe. Hopefully the comp picks up over the years if they stick to it. Great to get some more minutes into the fringe players.

This year tested the concept on what would have been a quick organisational period.
It proved a success I think in regard to fringe players/youth getting a chance to show their play v full timers. It's also the best chance coaches get to identify weaknesses in squad and play before getting started on pre-season and wondering about that stuff.
