Sunday's figures @MediaweekAUS: Sun TV sport: #rugby #FRAvAUS 85k (FoxSports metro+reg) 69k (TEN metro)

Pretty good for a Sunday morning.

Unfortunatley Ten's broadcast wasn't much better than Nine's, with missing the restarts to see yet another fucking Tom Waterhouse ad! I hate missing the restarts!
I like getting local commentary though.

I actually preferred the Ten broadcast over the Foxsports broadcast, no Marto or Kafe whining about every French indiscretion. :)
Don't really care about the restarts anyway, we do poorly in 9 out of 10 of them anyway ahaha.

The coverage wasn't that bad actually. I watched it for the majority of the game. The ads are annoying, at the same time, you're getting FTA coverage.

Pretty shortsighted for people to complain about advertisements on FTA. No ads, no coverage.

Channel Ten are on shaky ground, we should all be watching their coverage if we want the best for our game. Especially if we are part of the ratings panel! (I wish).

It's not the ads I'm complaining about, it's the timing of them. Missing key restarts is just poor form. Seven used to have the balance right in that they'd show an ad that ran for a few seconds after a try or a penalty & be back to play in time for the restart. Nine & Ten have failed in this regard. Other than that I'm happy for the games to have gone to Ten.
I really appreciate listening to commentary other than our own when the games are played in other countries, it adds to the wonderful tapestry that is world Rugby.

On a side note, don't the French cameramen love to get all artsy fartsy with their slow mo replays zooming in on nothing of much consequence.

Mate, times have changed, and not for the better. Make the most of any FTA coverage, because it won't be long before there is none.

Channel Ten are probably not going to survive, and then do you really think that Nine and Seven will be falling over themselves to rescue us?

Well it is what it is, doesn't mean I have to accept it & be happy with what I've got! I don't know the ins & outs of television stations financial situations, but I'll bet dollars to pounds that they won't be going anywhere.

The FTA audience, and therefore the ratings, and inexorably their revenues, are all falling. There is absolutely no reason that this trend will not continue.

If you don't know anything about finance, I would recommend keeping your dollars in your pocket.

Ahur ahur :-I

Free to air tv is not going to go away & the Wallabies will always find a home on it somewhere.
My only complaint is a legitimate one, don't miss the restarts.
Anyway going around in circles here.
Good day to you sir.

PS: My finances are ok, thanks for your concern.

No, mate, you were complaining about the duration of the commercials. If commercials are short enough, of course they will not impinge on the play. However, if you want to watch rugby on FTA, get used to the simple fact that FTA is struggling, especially TEN, and they will sell whatever they can, in terms of advertising, from whoever will buy it, and if it runs a few seconds over, so what?

Not many will buy it, especially early in the morning, or during the midnight hours.

I enjoyed the Ch 10 FTA coverage last night. Apart from the ads for that gambling agency.

At least I didn't have to listen to Foxtels buffoons Marto and Kearns!!!

Unfortunately I have Foxtel feed recorded on the IQ - big mistake so I have to listen to the aforesaid ijits.

Who were the Pommie commentators on FTA? They seemed knowledgeable, objective and impartial.

I thought the commentators on Ch10 were quite good, a few biased comments but they managed to keep each other in check..

Maybe the ARU and Chanel ten, and Waterhouse have come to an agreement.

For the enjoyment of the viewing WB supporters, they have decided not to show our piss poor restart receives.

BTW Mr Waterhouse, what are the odds on a team kicking off to the WB's of getting the ball back immediately? Pretty short I'd imagine?

Did anyone else experience the English commentator for the WB v France game?

I've come across his dreary ramblings before, and he's below compare. He could make women's mud wrestling sound dreary. Back to the soccer commentary booth with you, you wee man.

Yep, I encountered him as well, he's not too bad but as you said, a little dreary.

Did your ten coverage not show replays when the commentators were referring to, and describing them even when the audio was clear? Like a stoppage and they talk about a passage of play that wouldn't show? That was irritating

New rights for Football/Soccer:
- One hour delay of all Socceroos games
- LIVE coverage of a Friday night game (next season)
- One hour delay of all HAL finals games (next season)

In comparison to ours:
- LIVE coverage of all Wallabies games
- NO coverage of a Friday night game
- NO coverage of Super Rugby finals games

Another factor, the Asian Cup is exclusive to Fox, meanwhile the Lions tour is FTA.

Problem for us is still no FTA exposure of Super Rugby.

Interesting quote from fox:
"Fox Sports chief executive Patrick Delany said the pay TV broadcaster was happy to simulcast the Friday night game with SBS as it would help grow the game."

Hope they feel the same about super rugby!

And really enjoying Ten's broadcasting different commentators is like a holiday plus they played this weeks in a better definition than the France game, so they are already stepping up. Was surprised to see waterhouse got his prediction right this week, maybe it'd worth suggesting to him than some shorter cuts of his commercials that don't cut into the restarts would be great along with thanking him for supporting the wallabies/rugby.
