Soaks win the Battle of Broome Street local derby in a good quality match (available on Stan).
Baysie puts on some points against Sthn Lions.

Plenty of competition in the top-half of the ladder.
Uni v Palmyra and Soaks v Wests key match-ups in Round 15.

Disappointing to see majority of force squad members are playing back in Sydney. Would be great to have them all playing in Perth to improve our comp here but I guess the argument is that they will become better players if they can play at a higher level

2023 has been a long pre-season and a not so great Super Rugby season under a new coach.
The players back in Sydney are young blokes originally from NSW, currently on a 2 week break, who are taking the opportunity to have some family time while keeping match-fit before the Spring games against the Cheetahs. This includes players from the main squad, the Wider Training Group as well as Academy Players.
Henry Robertson, returning from knee recon, need as much match time as he can get. He played a number of half-games in Perth during his recovery this season. I expect to see him play against the Cheetahs.
There were still 7 players playing in Perth matches (it's been up to 15) plus 4 in the U20s and 1 at Wallaby Camp. Medrano to Pumas.
The more experienced squad members (who saw plenty of Super Rugby time) are having a well-earned break/recovery time.
From watching the Randwick/Syd Uni game, I agree that Shute Shield at it's best is at a higher level than much of Perth local club rugby.

Soaks continue their move up the ladder with a win over Wests Scarb at home.
No real surprises in other games.

The scramble for the top 6 places continues.
7 rounds remaining.

RugbyWA has postponed (seemingly indefinitely) any move to relegate one of these clubs.

WF Academy player Ryan McGloin (Joondalup Bros.) has gained a number of TOW mentions so far this year

Main player squad focused on the upcoming trip to Bloemfontein for 2 games against the Cheetahs.
PB advised the following re the PB v WS game:
"Unfortunately due to unforeseen circumstances all senior men's games scheduled at Pat O’Hara this Saturday 12th August have been cancelled."
Seems that there was illness in the Club as WS: "wishes all the players a speedy and full recovery".
