What this thread shows is that the quality of illicit substances in Australia is still world class.

Seriously, it's not DRUGby...

Horne at 13 is a tricky call. His best rugby has been at 12 with a flyhalf who has good feet, attacks the line well, and is a rugby player before he is a tactician...

Gee... Sounds a bit like Rabbit....

Deans announced to the media what QC (Quade Cooper) had to do.
Had Link put QC (Quade Cooper) in the front line for those last 3 games, and QC (Quade Cooper) handled the assignment

Did you happen to see where JOC (James O'Connor) was defending for large periods of the game pal? I'll give you the hot tip, it wasn't the front line.

He must have spent as little time defending at 10 as he did attacking there. For all QC (Quade Cooper)'s short comings I've never seen Link or any other coach have to shift him out with forwards at first receiver to cover for him in attack too.

As for the other comments regarding Lilo's injury affecting JOC (James O'Connor)'s game at 10. If a test flyhalf cannot play without a second flyhalf beside him, then maybe he just isn't a test flyhalf, but rather a winger playing flyhalf.

McCabe and Digby out of the series. Barnes out of the second test. AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) and Lilo likely to play.

Whoosh.

That would be am ok result for me. Can live without mccabe and ioane. I think Cummins is made for this type of game.
Better make sure our bench is flexible this time.

I'll be happy to see Cummins move to 13 if AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) goes down again. Him and JOC (James O'Connor) had a good understanding a few seasons ago at 10 and 13.

McCabe, Ioane ruled out of the second and third Tests by injury

Qantas Wallabies backs, inside centre Pat McCabe and winger Digby Ioane, have tonight been ruled out of any further participation in the DHL Australia 2013 Lions Tour due to injury.

Both players sustained injuries during last Saturday night’s first Test of the series which will require further examination by specialists, ruling out any chance of their appearing further in the series.

McCabe re-injured his neck in a similar location to an injury first sustained on last year’s Spring Tour. He will be seeing specialists in Sydney in the coming days to ascertain the way forward following further scans.

Ioane suffered internal damage to his right shoulder and will also require further follow up scans, with surgery a possibility.

The pair will be joined on the sideline for the second Test by fullback Berrick Barnes, who was concussed in the first half of last weekend’s match.

His recovery is being managed according to the IRB concussion guidelines and Barnes will not be considered for Saturday night’s second Test, although it is hoped he will have recovered in time to be considered for the third game in Sydney.

The news is better for inside centre Christian Leali’ifano who is making an excellent recovery after he too sustained concussion, in the opening minute of the first Test.

Leali’ifano, whose management has also followed the IRB guidelines, has made good progress and is expected to be able to be considered for selection for this weekend.

Outside centre Adam Ashley-Cooper, who underwent scans on his shoulder after the Test in Brisbane, is also on the improve, with medical staff confident he will be available in time for the game following further rehabilitation of the injury.

The Qantas Wallabies team for Saturday’s second Tom Richards Cup Test in Melbourne will be named on Thursday.

With that news re: the crooked in the backline I expect the following:

9. Genia
10. O'Connor
11. Cummins
12. Leali'ifano
13. Ashley-Cooper
14. Folau
15. Beale

21. Phipps
22. Horne
23. Tomane / Mogg

I'm a huge fan of the honey badger but I would would rather see Tomane in there; a bit of more of an x-factor. In saying that however the thought of seeing that mop of blonde hair rushing up on Cuthbert and BOD makes me very excited. Mogg's been the form back in the Aussie conference all year and I love his effortless style of play but I am not sure if he's just quiet ready for a game like this yet. When will the side be named?

Unlucky for McCabe, Barnes and Ioane and I hope they recover quickly. None of them went very well last week and the Wallabies will be OK without them.
If Lilo and AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) can start with Horne on the bench to cover them we are probably stronger in the centres. Beale starting and Tomane or the Badger on the wing will also strengthen our backs.
All in all we will probably run out with a better side this week.

12. Leali'ifano
13. Ashley-Cooper

21. Phipps
22. Horne
23. Tomane / Mogg

Out of these players, I think the ultimate backline is to play Beale at 10, JOC (James O'Connor) at 14 and Folau at 15.

In terms of the overall picture, hopefully having Lealiifano and AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) available is crucial. Ioane and Barnes were average and on their first test form replacing them will be an improvement.

I'm happy enough to give JOC (James O'Connor) and Lilo another crack at 10/12. If they stay on the field for most of the game I think it will work out alright.

Fantastic news about AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) if he's fit. I thought I did hear in the radio tonight that he wasn't going to play.

It will be an interesting choice between Badger and Tomane - both have a few positives in the bank on why they demand selection. I'd say Badger is the front runner, but wouldn't mind seeing Tomane out there to terrorise the Lions with his raw pace and ability to finish.

Interesting that everyone is going for Tomane. I feel as though Badger is a bit more like digby in his approach to the game and would fill the hard running role very well. We have plenty of x factor in Folau and he can provide the air threat that would compliment Cummins' extremely well. Just my opinion.

So does Gill (the only form/fit 7) of the last 8 weeks miss out now because Smith is back?

I'd argue that Gill is harder on the ball now that Smith uses his wiles a bit more to impact less often, but with greater impact.

Not that it will ever happen, and Hooper had a decent game at 7, but I didn't see him make one pilfer, not even sure if I noticed him attempt one. He's too small for any other position.

6. Mowen
7. Gill
8. Palu

19. Smith
20. Hooper

Smith to cover 7/8
Hooper if they want fresh and energetic running.

Im glad Hooper didn't make a pilfer. As mentioned by someone else if he'd gone hard he would have got penalized off the park no doubt. Theres a reason why everyone on the pitch didn't go hard at the ball after BOD got nailed twice by the ref.

Lucky you're not a selector.
Well so far everyone has a different opinion what the lineup should be. Which particular selections do you disagree with? Or do you just like taking pointless passive aggressive potshots?
Now lealo is looking ok id have him in place of taps.

I resent that. It wasn't passive aggressive. It was just a pointless potshot.

But since you asked:

1. slipper -- No, Robinson.
2. moore -- Yep.
3. kepu -- Alexander did fine, otherwise Slipper.
4. kimlin -- Not starting. Douglas was solid.
5. horwill -- Yep.
6. mcmenimum -- Not starting.
7. smith -- Before his injury, yes. Coming back -- well, we've seen how well that worked with injured players on Saturday.
8. mowen -- Palu, Mowen at 6.
9.genia -- Yep.
10. Beale -- Sure.
11. Cummins/Tomane -- Sure.
12. tapuai -- Urgh. Terrible form. Horne has been much better, but as you say, Lilo is likely good (enough) to go.
13. horne -- Not a 13, really. Much better at 12.
14. Folau -- Well, yeah.
15. JOC (James O'Connor) -- No thanks, not a 15.

My preference, assuming -- as reported today -- that Lilo and AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) will play, and using only players currently in the squad:

1. Robinson
2. Moore
3. Alexander
4. Douglas
5. Horwill
6. Mowen
7. Hooper
8. Palu
9. Genia
10. Beale
11. Cummins
12. Lilo
13. AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper)
14. JOC (James O'Connor)
15. Beale Folau (oops, typo)

16. S. Fainga'a
17. Slipper
18. Kepu
19. MMM
20. Gill
21. Phipps
22. Horne
23. Tomane

I wrote somewhere else that I think the forwards were very good and set a platform from which the game could have been one. Unfortunately, the backs did not take sufficient advantage. Scott Allen's video analysis shows this very well. But I don't think the line-up I've posted is what will happen -- Deans won't move JOC (James O'Connor).

hahah thanks. I like this response better. I like the idea of cloning Beale.
