SMI, I'm sure your last sentence in bold is meant to be sarcastic, but it's probably the reality until after the WC next year.
YUP! but no sarcasm, it just dawned on me. We are just barking at the storm better to get inside and shut the door.

We're all entitled to our opinions KOB, but a mere statement of "Vintage BR" doesn't add to any worthwhile discussion. I gave my reasons for my opinion - would you care to reciprocate? Did Noah, perhaps, turn over a lot of ball, drop passes, pass to no-one, kick out on the full in general play? I admit I was looking at his positives rather than negatives so could well have missed some glaring fuckups.
No worse than Foley apart from goal kicking and that's a small %age.

So, we just lost to an Italian team with a Kiwi coach… does Crowley even know there’s no cream in a carbonara?

We lost another series to England coached by Aussie Ed…

And we’re about to take on one of the top teams in the world in Ireland, who recently won a test series in NZ… currently coached by an Englishman, and a Kiwi prior…

But Dave Rennie is going to sacrifice his reputation and career putting in a half arsed job for Australia, because?
I’m not saying he’s doing a half arsed job. I’m saying he’s not the right person for the job.

Watching the England game. What do Australia have to do to get calls like they do. Ref ignoring off the ball hits, tackle in the air ,miles offside. If that's Aus it would have been 10 penalties in the first 25 min

KOB, I wonder if we can find a patient suffering from delusions of grandeur and a total narcissist who will drive these guys to perform?

Yeah look, I like Noah and believe we should continue to invest in him. The comment, which was tongue in cheek, was more about your affinity to target someone who wasn’t even playing.

I thought the most disappointing thing for Wallabies was after coming out firing right after halftime and getting back to 17-15 they just didn't kick on.

The discipline issues have to fall on Rennie's shoulders. Whatever he is doing at training to address it isn't working.

All the players and coaches should be very familiar with how to play under Pickerall - it's not as if it was some random ref you've never had before.

Credit to Italy though - they have really improved - they now create enough to be a threat.

Watch the movies Remember The Titans and Moneyball. Think outside the square.

I saw your post earlier about the demise of rugby in Western Sydney schools. A personal experience here is that we have one of the strongest junior clubs in the country, yet no presence in the public school system. The two should be aligned but they are so far apart. Dave Rennie aside, the main problem is right there.

Dave Rennie may be a good coach - but he's a woeful selector.

He really isn't. Deans blew an historic Lions series by not having Quade at 10. Wallabies had front-foot ball for majority of the Brisbane match and would've undoubtedly won that game with Cooper pulling the strings. I can't think of a more costly selection error from any Wallabies coach. Rennie quite frankly doesn't even compare, at least there's sound reasoning behind most of his team selections.

I don't see why so many posters are so down on Noah after this game. His kicking for touch was a welcome highlight after the very poor efforts by Foley forever. He gave the last pass for Wright's try. His kicking in general play might not be world shattering but was better than anything dished up by others during this tour. He was off target with a couple of early goal kicks, but did find his radar and the conversion of Robertson's try on the sideline was a beauty.

He was working with our third best No 9 in a backline that excludes any attacking team work but relies on individuals for territory gain and scoring tries. Overall, he was not really a step down from Foley imo.

A couple of weeks ago I was saying how Foley should be done because of his errors, but there is a huge difference when Foley is on the field compared to Noah with the cohension of the backline. Foley at least makes half breaks and gets an offload away. The backline looks much more organised and threatening.

So I have changed my mind. Noah needs to have a very bloody good super rugby season before being considered again. He is just a complete passenger at 10. I will take Foley's 1-2 errors per game, at least he might create 1-2 tries to offset this.

And the thing is Slim, Crowley wasn't even really meant to be doing the job, he had actually left Benneton-Trviso after 3 year gig, and was coming home to NZ (had even given tenants in his house notice), and Italy asked if he would tke over that job for a while, so rented John Kirwans house and stayed there.

That hypothetical Deans fuck up doesn’t make Rennie good.

OK - understand. But while missing in this game Bernard has started nearly every test match since Quade got injured. We know exactly what his kicking game is like, and I reckon it's totally legitimate to compare Noah's efforts with what is known of BF.

I'll have to reply to myself because I really think there is something to this.
England got away with so many penalties. So do other teams. But Australia get called for random shit that happeneds multiple times in the game. Like last night
Seat belt tackle, off feet when cleaning out, line outs not straight etc. Both sides did these things multiple times and one side got called for it. Small penalties or turnovers that all teams do but for some reason the Wallabies get called for it at random points in the game which stifles any opportunity.
The guys are not talking back to the ref anymore which is great and the right direction. I'm hoping this works soon and we stop copping random 50/50 calls that no other teams get pinged for. I'm 4 min into watching South Africa France and have seen 3 seatbelt tackles with no issue

Never deserved to beat Italy. Don't get me wrong. But the turnovers and penalties from these calls are out of control. Like the game this year where our scrumhalf got called not putting the ball into the scrum straight 2 or 3 times. Out of no where. No one refs it, no one cares but all of a sudden a red gets a hard on against Australia and calls it multiple times in a game.

I think we all recognise that Noah needs to develop his game management more, but how can he do that when he's not being selected? It is almost universal that posters here have wanted Noah to get more game time, and to start in some tests so that he can get better skills or show that he doesn't have them.

Having agreed there, I certainly do not agree that Foley's game management skills are anything to write home about. I really do think that anyone playing 10 in this team and under the current coaches will have severe issues with running a backline that has little or no flair in attack and relies solely on individual skills to create something. And when they're missing Kerevi, Koroibete, Kellaway and Campbell is so obviously affected by some virus over the week's preparation, then even those individual skills are very scarce. A fit and firing Campbell in this match probably would have been enough to bring the win.
