These guys probably share a limo and just travel from board meeting to airport lounge to board meeting. (All on the shareholders)

Seriously though: the obvious 'insider' patronage, the executive cross-overs, the internecine insider reviews conducted by close ex-Wallaby mates, the ARU board position promotions from within the same tight group.........can we know see how institutionally unhealthy and inbred has been/still is the core of the ARU-State RU cultures and what a dark passage this has led to for the vast 'outsider' Australian rugby community as a whole.

… With Canberra not able to match the projected growth rates of either Melbourne or Perth over the next 10 years, the least disruptive solution for Australian rugby would be for the Brumbies to move to Melbourne and continue the Brumbies brand in the Victorian capital.

… “Obviously, for legal reasons as we have reserved all our rights, I can’t really comment on this idea,” said Cox, when asked his opinion of the idea. “But it’s certainly great to see someone thinking outside the box to help the ARU board find a way out of this. But it is a matter for the ARU board and we certainly haven’t had any discussions with the Brumbies.”

… Seemingly that’s not about to happen. An ARU spokesman last night insisted it had not altered course. “There has been no change to the ARU’s position that the Brumbies are no longer part of any discussion with regards to the process of reducing to four Super Rugby teams for the 2018 season.”

… The scheduled talks between the Force and the ARU are starting to resemble the Panmunjom talks at the end of the Korean War, where negotiations broke down over the height of flagpoles. Last night the two parties couldn’t even agree that discussions would go ahead on Thursday as planned.

I've got a feeling that Bill is going to be the scapegoat for the ARU.

But the joint really needs a clean out of the Board, starting with Clyne.

If Wayne Smith wants to write about the Brumbies so much he should get a job at the Canberra Times.........

Is there a process?

Whilst I know a lot of the Rebels and Brumbies fans will disagree, it seems to me that the amalgamation of those two teams is far more innovative and progressive than simply cutting the Force.

It has the least downside IMO. Its absolute cowardice from the ARU to simply cut the Force and then pretend to fit a process around it.

If they are gone then cut the bullshit and rip the band aid off. They're going to get sued either way.

Amalgamating them is, in effect, no different to cutting the Brumbies. They'd play a couple of games in Canberra for a season which nobody would go to and then just move completely to Melbourne.

So there are no real rugby followers in Canberra? As in people who love the game?

Call it the Southern States Brumbies. If no one turns up in the ACT then simply move it to Melbourne, if no one turns up in Melbourne move it to the ACT.

I see the Force and its recent efforts as an exemplar of the passion and innovation we need in Australian rugby - to cut it would be madness and would vastly reduce Australian Rugby's domestic footprint.

If Cox is willing to merge, it's to acquire the players and IP of the Brumbies.

From a "owning a sports team to pump up other businesses rather than to have them be profitable on their own" perspective, Melbourne is the better place.

So we need to save money _let's cut the big expense that adds the least value. Easy, we cut the aru saving Australian rugby millions per year.

A little bit more googling and Brett Robinson is currently in the employ of the Bank of Queensland as a Specialist CEO; whatever that is

Guess who is the Chairman of the Bank of Queensland, none other than New South Wales Rugby Union and Waratahs chairman Roger Davis.

The gene pool is dry!

Why even have our own Management & Board if they are just the messenger boys of the broadcasters. Get rid of them all and deal directly with Foxtel and get a big cost saving.

I haven't seen this discussed here and I can't vouch for the content but it is an interesting angle tho probably not new.

If in a hurry read the first post then the last post on page 2 and onward.

It would make more sense to merge the Rebels and the Force...........

To quote Chris Dutton - "Better to join two struggling teams than sink a successful one."

I'm sure there's a profitable Star Wars tie in to be had there?
