does it? I think it's a pretty damn conservative selection.

Desperate would be chucking AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) in the centres. Giving Banks a shot perhaps. Keeping Thor there. Perhaps Rory Arnold.

I can imagine a lot more desperate selections than reverting to that.

A bit hard to keep Rory Arnold there as he was flown home with a fractured eye socket

A comment on a stuff.co.nz article reporting on Cheika's axing of Beale. Apparently we Wallaby supporters are the lucky ones.

  • 1949 we won 3 from 5 (2 wins v the ABs and one v the Maori - which was a capped game)

The main All Black team were on a simultaneous tour of South Africa (from which Maori players were not selected in order to comply with Apratheid laws), so in effect we were playing their 3rd XV with three good Maori players added.

Including returning Rory to England. Apparently he was at Brumbies training yesterday or today.

11 naivalu, Kerevi 12 and AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) 13 is one that will works, Cheika's favoritism of foley and maddocks is becoming really tiring..sad for Beale, he wasn't under-performing, he just wasn't meant to play fora team that can't attack..

Have you thought that this might be even more frustrating for Eddie Eyebrows? If you were the national coach, would you tell the whole world what the exact state of health of your whole squad is? Or the reasons for selections, or non-selections?

Indeed, so why pray tell are the coaching staff keeping us and England fully abreast of the state of injury and illnesses and posting the same on the Rugby Australia website?

Both he and Bernard Foley sat out Wallabies training on Monday local time and while more were expected to be sidelined, the entire squad warmed up including Folau and Foley.
"There was a few guys crook through the Italy game, a few played through and whatnot and then a few guys missed out at training yesterday," defence coach Nathan Grey said.
"I think it's something that, it happens when you're touring and whatnot but a few guys just sat out of training yesterday.
"Squizz (Folau) had a bit of stuff floating through and then Bernard and a few of the other boys just missed out training yesterday."

Halfback Will Genia speaking on Monday morning in London said it would be a call for the medical staff to make but the star backrower looked “pretty busted” after the game.
“Not too sure (of his prognosis),” he said.
“He's pretty busted walking around so I guess that'll be a call by the doctor and the medical staff.”
Pocock is the only major injury concern for the Wallabies, with rookie Jordan Petaia expected to be fit after a hamstring injury ruled him out of a possible debut against Italy.

hough he has been an absentee for a lot of training this week, Cheika said they would give the 30-year-old every chance to play.
Asked if Pocock was 100 per cent fit, Cheika was frank.
"Well I wouldn't say fully, no, I'd rather be fair and square about that, otherwise he would've been training today, wouldn't he?," he said.
"He’s hurting but he’s desperate to play.

I hate to reiterate it but the record over the last three years of 17 wins in 41 tests @ 41% is pretty damn diabolical.[/quote]
No doubt it is but its not the whole story. In the history of Super Rugby at least there has been no time where all the Australian teams have sicked ANY WHERE NEAR as badly as they have as the last three seasons.

From 2011 to 2015 with five teams Australians won about 45% of their games vs NZers. Judging performance against NZ teams is IMO a good barometer because NZ teams have all ways been 5 and always been consistent, having 4 strong teams most years, at least 3, and there are no altitude or jet lag issues playing against them.

Over the the first 20 yrars of Super Rugby aus teams roughly succeeded against NZ about 45% of the time (not including finals cause they are jigged by hone ground advantage but make little difference any way.)

Before 2016 Australian teams' worst year was 2007 where we won 30% of our games. There were only 2 other years ( from the first 20 when we won less than 40%.

Now what follows is truly diabolical:

In 2016 we won 12.5%
In 2017 we won 0%
In 2018 we won 18.75%

What's really shocking is how good this year looks compared to the previous two. Buy in fact we only won 3 games this year (4 if you include finals) but we only won 3 in 2016 too just from more attempts.

You can put down all the other wallabies coaches stats from pro era and compare them to Cheika's but its not fair if not seen also from this perspective. No other wallabies coach has had to pick from such consistent losers as our current one. You think that's not going to have an affect?

Twickenham nearly always full for the autumn internationals against Tier 1 nations and 6N games.

They love their Rugby in London, I think Argentina were keen to play some of their Rugby Championship games there as there would be higher attendance at Twickenham and in turn get more cash. Went to Australia vs Barbarians at Twickenham back in 2011 and think there was 40 000 +

Pretty sure every Argentina test at home this year has been a sellout.

I'm sure thats the case but Twickenham sits another 35 000 compared to Mendoza and tickets are probably a lot dearer (starting around 40 pounds) than in Argentina (unsure of cost).
