I reckon the pertinent question would whether the selective free speech brigade of Latham and Jones etc would still have his back. He's going to become a pawn in the unending culture war, which is a shame for all.

Sami Shah co-hosts Melbourne's ABC breakfast program and has a podcast out on free speech. It's worth a listen, particularly as it's from the perspective of a person of colour. The episode I've linked is great and includes an interview with Andrew Bolt on his view of free speech and how it pertains to one of the last furors aimed at Jasmin Abdel-Magied.

But he didnt refer to Jews.
He referred to a long list of "sinners" who he calls to repent and it included homosexuals. It would have been easier if he'd left them out but that's what's in the Biblical passage he quoted.
Edit: or referred to.

The difference as I understand it is IF used a bible verse to support his post. He would not be able to find a verse to support 'all Jews are going to hell'. I think the bible would suggest many old testament Jewish prophets and NT Jews such as John the Baptist are heaven bound

I think for many of us the use of a biblical quote only heightens the ridiculousness.

If he did, would you still defend him?

Interesting that the bible believers do not come out after reading these sort of posts claiming mental damage to their youth struggling with societal anger at their belief.

The biblical passage, from the bible he quoted, doesn't contain homosexuals.

That's Folau's interpretation. And he had plenty of other choices. And plenty of chances to take it down too.

I'd suggest it's because, unlike sexuality, religious affiliation is a choice. It's also a shared characteristic of the country's political leaders, many of the business leaders and the default social structure for the most of Australia's history. Hardly a persecuted minority.

*sigh*
Yes it did.
Read over the previous posts.
Some of us amateur theologians researched and discussed it at length.

The KJV does not contain the word 'Homosexual' but it refers to same sex relations. Those relations that today are called Homosexual

This is a comparison of a social media post to airline accidents which take the lives of hundreds of people. It's a completely ridiculous analogy and its insulting

Spik, I think that's a bit of a head in sand type of argument you're making. Joyce is saying, in the aviation industry, mistakes should only happen once which everyone learns from and moves on with that knowledge.

But, in any event if we take your comparison of airline accidents vs the threat facing people in the gay community.

A quick google search returns a pretty comprehensive study by the Aus Institute of Criminology where they looked at the assaults in NSW and worked through where deaths were directly attributable for someone being homosexual. In the 10 year period, there were 37 confirmed cases where someone was killed because they were gay. This is just for NSW alone. - https://aic.gov.au/publications/tandi/tandi155

Trying to look at a wider set, I quickly saw the USA stats - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Histo...LGBT_people_in_the_United_States#2010–present

In 2011, the FBI reported 1,572 hate crime victims targeted based on a sexual orientation bias, making up 20.4% of the total hate crimes for that year.

The bible quotes are pretty irrelevant in my opinion.

It was the image that was the prominent part of the post that was the main cause of consternation. The bible quotes don't make it fine.

Anyone that forms a opinion from a headline is often left with a false impression. I fail to understand how anyone with a good command of the English language could have read IF's post in it's entirety and taken offense.

Sorry, but what exactly said after this makes it absolutely not a problem?

Those that are living in Sin will end up in Hell unless you repent. Jesus Christ loves you and is giving you time to turn away from your sin and come to him.

If you won't post the whole of IF's post you are in my opinion promoting the hate speech you say you oppose. Not posting the whole truth is often more of a lie.

It's really not........... not unless Folau was in disagreement with the above meme, which he was not.
