Given that the Dragon's have historically struggled at the glue factory I can't see them winning there this week.

Hamish Stewart preliminary named for the breakers on rugbyxplorer.

Is this the week where we see the Reds return in full force for their respective club?

I think I saw something online about a contingent of reds up north at a junior rugby carnival?

Sefa Naivalu playing 15 for Norths this weekend. Easts will have their hands full with a prospect such as that coming back to clubland.

Social media saying Campbell Magnay back for GPS this weekend. He will be able to fix that backline up massively. I wonder if they have sorted around finals qualifications for him after the Hegarty issue a few years ago, when also playing for the Rebels.

He won’t be playing finals. Mark Chisholm played 4 rounds for the bulldogs in 2017 and was not granted an exception.

Why would Magnay get a exception with less games?

I honestly don’t like the rule. Just foreshadowing what QRU will do.

But Magnay has actually played for the club before and Hegarty had not.

So had Chisholm and wests. Its about eligibility that season. Not a connection with the club in the past.

100% agree and understand the rules of the competition. All I was saying is that Hegerty joined the club out of the blue played one game prior to finals and expected an exemption to play finals. At least Chisholm played four games that season and has a history with the club. Situations are different but agree with the outcomes for both.

So will they allow Hegarty to play? At most he will get 3 games this season, or is there a different rule for Reds players? I would understand if McMahon turned up and wanted to play - he has been o/s but if they allow Hegarty to play then I ant see why they wouldn't allow Magnay to play. Is he signed for the Reds next year? and if not then why isn't he playing in the Melbourne competition.

If he cant play finals then GPS probably shouldn't pick him. I agree with Ned in a comment above with the tinkering with the GPS team each week. From here on, GPS need to pick the best 15. The 15 that could potentially start in a GF. If that excludes Hegarty and Magnay then so be it.

Not 100% sure that is correct, Hegarty is a Marist Ashgrove old boy, may have played at GPS in juniors? Not sure as he was with the Bronco's under20s so could have been playing club league instead of union. Regardless it didn't matter a few years ago as he was ineligible.

Also JeepsTragic my understanding is that the minimum game rule doesn't apply for Reds players, so he should be fine.

Magnay was at Camp Wallaby at Sylvan Rd. Just guessing but may have been told to get some meaningful game time. Is contracted to Rebels for next 2-3 seasons so will not qualify for GPS finals.

My understanding is that all contracted Reds players available for nominated club in finals. Reds games count as club games for qualification, even if not not selected or injured.

On another note, Brothers putting out a serious reserve grade side this week with players making way for the returning U20's. Uni probably similiar so should be a quality game.

Hegarty will be able to play as he's a contracted Red. Magnay is a Rebel. He can't play finals. Fair enough. He can't expect QLD Rugby to go into bat for him when he opted to play his rugby in Melblourne. Stuff him I say.
