2019 SYDNEY COLTS RUGBY

Think Gordon had colts that have played grade as well. That gripe doesn’t fly.
Also Chatswood Oval is a disgrace unsafe not Shute shield standard. Maybe the foundation could spend some money there instead of player recruitment.

Uni outplayed the opposition in every position across the park.

Some very upset Gordon supporters. Rather vocal against uni players. Pretty average from some.

Uni could’ve scored maybe another 3 or 4. Some very strange ref calls.

The Lance Armstrong defence doesn’t fly well either but each club to their own
Best of luck to all teams in the grand finals

So let me get this right. Gordon feel robbed losing 43-10 because a 18 yr old prop played. Really? Did the other 14 do anything or was it a case of Gordon vs one player

Unfortunately Gordon on the day were just very poor not just in the front row but every position

If all the players meet the eligibility requirements for playing in Finals then isn’t an issue

Finding clear and concise eligibility rules for finals matches seems near impossible. The best I could find was a 2017 article on rugbynews.net that indicated that a player needs to play 4 regular season matches, or if on rep duties (as Angus Bell was), 2 regular season matches to qualify. Interestingly, Angus has played just 1 Colts match - that being on 13 July vs Easts.
I have heard that if a Club has all its teams playing in a round of finals, then it is a free for all, and players can be selected in any grade, provided, of course, that they meet the age criteria. However, this rule seems crazy as it only provides benefit to the teams that need it least, ie. the strongest of Clubs.
Under this rule, Angus will not be eligible to play in the Colts Grand Final this Sunday.
Back to the Uni vs Gordon match, it was clear that the player in question made a huge difference to the Uni team - perhaps mostly in the confidence he provided to all his team mates. Two penalty tries from scrums on Gordon feeds says a bit. I look forward to 2020 and the impact he will make to the Waratahs, and within a year or two, to the Wallabies. He is something special!
Unfortunately for Gordon, they have had a horror run with injuries over the past couple of months. The front row has been most impacted (ironically where they needed to be at their best on Sunday), plus they lost their 10 the previous week in the qualifying final. This threw many of their backs into unusual positions and it showed in their cohesion on the rare occasions they got ball on Sunday. A couple of players were also returning from long term injuries - not ideal for such an important match.
But having said this, even at full strength, I can't see that Gordon would have got up. But, can be certain that the contest would have been more than the annihilation that was witnessed.
And I agree with the earlier comment about the playing surface at Chatswood Oval. It is dangerous.

Wow! Uni beat the undefeated reigning premiers and the forum goes quiet. Congratulations to the Uni Colts 1st Grade on a wonderful victory.

Incredible display by uni forwards particularly front row absolutely smashed wicks ....completely dominated at scrum and breakdown.
Uni 10 Harry Wilson also best game of his year . Loved the niggle between 10s Wilson coming out on top.
Tough game and a bit of a shock I’d say for wicks
