Rugby World Cup 2019

Isn't there a thread for this whole residency / poaching discussion now? I think it might be better to move further discussion there, as whilst it is an interesting aspect of future international games and Rugby World Cups, I think with regards to the 2019 one, all that could be said, has.

Haven't seen all the comments, but I would like to be able to see players drop back to tier 2.

So if Oz/NZ cap a player for the sake of stockpiling, then move on from them, they're not lost to international rugby.

But I wouldn't like to see, for example, a South African not getting noticed at home, then moving to Scotland and playing for them, suddenly being bought back to play for the boks after he's played 20 tests.

This is certainly a substantial and easy-to-implement way to help the tier-2 nations, and by extension, the rugby world.

AB's team for 4th place match already named:

1 Hansen
2 Coltman
3 Fozzie
4 Pat T
5 worst barrett
6 Sam Cane
7 Ardie Savea
8 Akira Ioane
9 Weber
10 Foxy
11 Rieko Ioane
12 Crotty
13 Goodhue
14 Reece
15 Ben Smith

Foxy's boot to see us home 9-6 in a tight one vs the Welsh

ABs need to get their head in the game or they will have heads drooping even lower.

When did Akira join the squad? Frizzell was brought in for Jacobson

Akira hasn't joined the squad upthereds, just DPs humour, Akira has never been and hasn't looked like evry being an All black, apart from in the eyes of a few Jafas, and one or 2 supporters from elsewhere who have no idea what a decent rugby player has to do!!

Ok at the end of a brilliant world cup I think, I have to say I loved every minute of it (though not quite as much when ABs got beaten:confused:). To all the naysayers out there and here who were predicting a rubbish or not so good WC go and soak your heads!
Before it started we reading that there would be empty stadiums and Japanese people wouldn't be interested, never noticed that problem myself!! Then when it started and Refs cracked down on head contact etc we read an awful lot how the game was ruined and players would just drop their head and charge at tacklers etc, noone would be able to tackle, especially close to line, well bugger me if players didn't just learn to lower tackles again. We also heard how finals outcomes were going to be decided by refs and TMOs, and once again seems the players adapted (apart from one stupid French player) to how the laws were being applied and the likes of Ben Skeen's only interference in finals that I recall was to say a couple of times he saw no need to over rule tries, and generally in every game I saw the best team seemed to win.
Japanese seemed great hosts and had all the details sorted, I have mentioned before how impressed I was even kids that escorted teams on field seemed to know that teams anthem.
I believe that's it for rugby for me for year now and will although still go over games in mind, but may even have to look at doing some things with wife before Super rugby starts next year!

The other question I have with perhaps press etc being wrong, I have read all week in Aussie press that Eddie Jones was the messiah of rugby coaches and how ARU needed to get him back etc, even one saying quick get in because NZ want him, well does this now apply to Rassie (and I really rate him)?? Seems getting wind blown up your arse can be fleeting, shouldn't we judge good coaches on more tha one game? I like Eddie as coach, but like Joe Schmidt when his Irish team beat ABs, surely you should get judged on not just a few tests.

IMO Rassie is showing himself to be the perfect DOR. Took c ontrol, realised the coach wasn't up to it, stepped in. Directly and focused completely on Saffer strengths to return to strength.

They will now want an HC to take this foundation forward. And Rassie will be a perfect DOR.

But what kind of coach would want to take orders from a director of rugby?*

*this is sarcasm.

haha. DOR and living National treasure. And actually it does raise issues. Imagine them having a Cheika-like HC problem in the run up to the next RWC. But you know the DOR is ready and capable of stepping in. Interesting dynamic.
