Sydney Subbies 2020

Read the 1st point and the note at the bottom of the page. It talks about different regions and then the note goes out of their way to talk about inter-regional mixing includes from different regions of Sydney.

From a subbies perspective it assumes players live in the suburbs they play for. Do you think Iggies players all live in Ryde. Or Colleagues don’t draw players from far up the north shore and inner west. As most things when bureaucracy gets involved, the policy never translates to the Reality.

Because it is extremely difficult to set a policy that tells people to rely on common sense. I think NSW Sport and Health are very aware that people don't always live next to the club they play for, so this is a provision to limit the damage.

Stop sport altogether, or start with a general direction to limit movement where possible. Works for most major sports in Sydney who are regionally based - particularly juniors.

Subbies is somewhat of an exception because of the way it is structured. Other sports like Ice Hockey are also specialised because of the facility required, so they may have something to consider as well.

Local rugby league have had conditions put on them from NSWRL and it is extreme compared to what we've got - temperature checks for anyone taking the field at game day and training. Sign in lists for everyone, not just QR codes on a wall that may go somewhere.

And yet one of the clubs around here supposedly took on games from out of area because a field was closed. Asking for it.

Subbies is playing on.

Encouraging no crowds and players leave directly after their game. Will be easier said than done but I think risk mitigation strategies such as clubs encouraging the usage of masks is more likely.

Have it been confirmed that Shute Shield and the NRL are no longer allowing crowds to games or finals?

Especially with a "But they don't mean me!" attitude from certain people. Policing it would be ludicrous so let's hope cases stay relatively low until September 27...

SWRU 7s is on "one spectator per player".

The “but they don’t mean me” crowd have a very potent argument that there is no consistency in this decision and they will ignore it and attend what are essentially public parks.
Subbies need to explain how a couple of hundred people attending a Subbies game with a full COVIDSafe plan in place poses a significantly higher risk than a couple of thousand People attending a Shute Shield game. Or how is it more dangerous than SJRU who are allowing one spectator per player. Commonsense needs to prevail here and a fact based risk assessment needs to guide decisions.

I agree with Subbies on this. 1 spectator per player means both teams can have 15 spectators...What is the point of that?

Better to accept that there will be no crowds for the rest of the year and move on.

I’ll go and watch Shute Shield with 2000 or 3000 others in perfect safety because NSWRU says it poses no risk.

But the questions remains why will Subbies not have crowds but other sports do? It’s a fair question that needs to be answered? If there isn’t an answer you can expect people to ignore it.

Are Shute Shield clubs doing allocated ticketing online? Most of them have closed grounds I assume, so they're using the limit of 500 based on a post I saw from Sydney Uni.

A couple of cracking games coming up this weekend in Div 2. Undefeated Hills away to St Pats is going to be great. Hills have to play St Pats and HH in the last two rounds which will provide a great run into the finals.

Old Barker vs UNSW. This game decides both teams chances of making the finals. If UNSW lose then they are done for the year. Win and it goes to the final round where BOBs are away to Epping.

Looking forward to Saturday already!!!!

Big game in Div 3 with the top of the table clash between Iggies and the Breakers at Ryde. This should be a great game. These sides are going to get sick of the sight of each other over the next month.

Iggies vs Breakers also to decide DIV 3 Club Championship. 1 vs 2 in all grades and 23c forecast promises to be an enormous day.

Iggies do face a tough final away test against Beecroft who sit 3rd in every grade with their only loss coming at the hands of a Breakers clean sweep.

Interesting how thorough some clubs have with CovidSafe plans in place.
Forest do temperature checks and scan in before issuing a wrist ban which allows you access to their canteen/bar. Two security guards monitoring queues and general distancing.

Goes to show it can be done safely without having to pull down the canteen shutters.

Div 1
WAVES vs Knox - Waverley to keep Knobs from recording their first win of the season.

Div 2
HH vs Robs: Hunters Hill to win with a bonus point.
HILLS vs St pats: Crucial game for St Pats if they want semis footy but cannot see them getting over the big HILLs boys
BOBS vs unsw: A must win for both teams, a lose for UNSW ends their finals hope.
Lindfield vs EPPING: The RAMS to keep old soldier at bay in a high scoring encounter.

Div 3
Briars vs HV: The winner here will lock in 4th spot for the semis. I think HV will want it more.
Blacktown vs HARLEQUINNS: A Quinns win here can keep there semi final hope a live, just.
Hac vs BEECROFT: A potential cricket score awaits
Iggies vs NEWPORT: Game of the year, two clubs flying high with the game not only to settle 1st place but most likely the club championships, although Beecroft will be an enormous challenge for Iggies next week.
1sts: 2 vs 1
2nds: 1 vs 2
Colts:3 vs 1
3rds:1 vs 2

A huge day awaits.

The registration system is absolute garbage. We had a guy try to register last night while at training, only to find out tonight that he allegedly registered yesterday at another club......

lol that was our bad actually - we refreshed his record instead of someone else's via the back end. Didn't realise until Subbies pinged me last night.
