If we are related to a player but arent a mother or father can we still attend?

Each player & reserves allowed 2 parents /gaurdians to watch.
But there will be hundreds on the Misken st Fence outside the ground(not a bad view actually)

I watched the full game between Nudgee and Grammar and BBC v Toowoomba again and I really think BBC are up against it this weekend. Nudgee are ruthless. It's not pretty rugby but it is abrasive, tough and powerful. Not sure if the skinny BBC boys will be able to deal with this.

Thanks Oracle83. I thought this last comment might spice things up a bit pre-game. This thread has been a bit quieter this season, probably due to Covid I guess.

Most likely down to GO/DM going quiet after the spray he copped earlier in the thread. C'mon mate, we love your input. Not like you to lie down and we know you're still reading this. Give us your take on BBC v Nudgee, I know I want to hear it.

Don't disappoint me fella!

GPS rugby: Covid-19 border ban fails to break family spirit of Brisbane Boys College lock

When Hugo Perceval runs onto Brisbane Boys College No. 1 oval in Saturday’s GPS First XV premiership decider against St Joseph’s Nudgee College, mum Meg will be in the crowd but his dad will be behind the COVID-19 border wall, 428km away.

When Hugo Perceval runs onto Brisbane Boys College No. 1 oval in Saturday’s GPS First XV premiership decider against St Joseph’s Nudgee College, mum Meg will be in the crowd but dad Chris will be behind the COVID-19 border wall, 428km away in Inverell.
Perceval, a spiritual leader of the BBC pack, last saw his dad on August 8-9 weekend when Chris Perceval drove the 428km from the NSW country town to watch his boy play rugby.

But when the Queensland state government gave notice it would be shutting the border with NSW, the Perceval’s made a decision that dad Chris would stay home and mum, Meg, would base herself in Queensland in case Hugo was injured playing rugby or needed the family.
Several players involved in Saturday’s clash face similar heartache, as do many, many families throughout Queensland and New South Wales.
“At the moment my dad and my young brother have stayed in New South Wales,’’ Hugo said.
“Since the Brisbane Grammar weekend (August 8), they have not been able to get up.
It is very sad for dad.
“Mum decided to stay on and I am very grateful for that.’’
Dad, who was a fine player for the University of Queensland rugby club in the late 1980s, has had to make do viewing livestreaming of the BBC matches as he will again this weekend.
RELATED LINKS
Saturday will be Perceval’s second successive ‘’grand final’’ for BBC after the side lost to The Southport School in 2019.
Perceval and his teammates will be aiming to beat Nudgee and claim BBC’s first rugby premiership since 1954.
Brisbane Grammar School director of rugby Phil Mooney said Saturday’s showdown would be absorbing.
Mooney’s squad has played both schools this season, but last impressions are often the most influential and Mooney was impressed by Nudgee whom his side lost to last weekend.
“I thought they are extremely well coached,’’ said Mooney, a former Reds coach.
“They (Nudgee) are a physical side and I was impressed with their defence and breakdown work and against BBC will be a great game.’’
Mooney said the teams had slightly contrasting styles, with Nudgee’s physical play and defence up against the slick BBC backline.
“It will come down to whichever team can execute their game the best,’’ Mooney said.

Its getting close, and keep in mind the bonus point feature is just there to maybe split a tie?. No prizes anyway :)

David Young and Greenhorn both picked the winning margins in the ACGS game. Tipping for this weekend should be up in 24 hours.

I am going to wait before committing but is definitely an interesting round with all matches possibly going either way.

Can IGS be the TSS bogey team again?

BGS and BSHS should be competitive as well as ACGS vs TGS.

And the Nudgee v BBC match should be epic with a lot of emotion at the end whomever wins. I will be crying either way I am sure.

I will try not to get too pissed and post play by plays....no promises though as its 10pm stateside when I watch live :)

My unofficial Tips.

The First Grammar School v TSS - Ipswich to win. They just need to tighten up their set piece, particularly their line out. Their number 8 is a handful and they have some weapons both in the backs and forwards.

The 2nd Grammar School v State School - Grammar are a credible team. They've done well this year. I like the way they play and I think they will win on Sat.

Church School v The Farmers - This is a difficult on to pick. Churchie have done well on occasion, but lack a bit of discipline and consistency. Toowoomba played very smart rugby last weekend in the 2nd half to test BBC. I'll go with Churchie.

The Big One: The Rugby School v Toowong Boys College

Nudgee are very strong in the forwards this end of the season and this is where the game will be played. Nudgee are a little weaker on one of the wings and fullback as they have lost a couple of players there and so this might be where BBC focus their attention, but I think BBC having their scrum disrupted so close to this game is a problem for them.

BBC had the chance to win the Premiership at home last year v TSS, but for the history of BBC rugby and the school, it will be so much sweeter for them if they do manage to win the Premiership against Nudgee, just like they accomplished in 1954 to claim the Premiership. Good luck to them, I will genuinely be happy for them if they manage to do this.

My pick - after watching the Nudgee flyhalf slot a conversion from the left hand side line (left foot) of the field v Grammar and then knock another one over from the right hand side line a few minutes later, and also land pretty much every other kick I've watched him kick this season, I think Nudgee will win with a difficult penalty kick after the bell, Just like Paul Mclean did to win the 1971 Premiership against Grammar. Whether it is Elton Flately v England, James O'Connor v the All blacks, Reesjan Pasitoa v Terrace or Paul McLean v Grammar, Nudgee has a proud history of putting their opposition to the sword in this manner.

Nudgee College for the Premiership.

Great summary =well said.Nudgee will definitely attack the scrum with the big BBC 1 out.I think 3 Hansen out as well.Wet day with more big bodies should get us home.Yes that BBC backline can cut loose if our line speed is not up to the task.

I think CHURCHIE need to be cautious this weekend against TGS. TGS showed plenty on the weekend, for CHURCHIE to need to show them real respect. They are similar packs in they are small and well drilled. Perhaps TGS performance last weekend was their Grand final and the tank maybe empty, but I wouldn’t take them lightly. I loved their passion and the record of surprise wins against Churchie must be a concern. Ie 2015 CHURCHIE PREMIERSHIP team were ambushed by Hamish Stewart’s TGS TEAM and they had a similar passion that day. Churchie to scrape home.

I’ve enjoyed watching Igs play with some serious individual talent and size, but the Chemistry is not there to take out a professional outfit like TSS. Let’s remember TSS COMPREHENSIVELY defeated NUDGEE at the beginning of the season on Jack Loss oval, before suffering the wrath of BBC , and two lucky last minute wins over Gt and Churchie.

Putting aside all the usual propaganda and ego inflation from methane gas developed on the mosquito mudflats of Banyo, This all begs the big question, is NUDGEE really up to the task this weekend. TSS have already shown BBC how to beat NUDGEE. ....and BBC did a big job on TSS at Shark tank, so using TSS as the gauge NUDGEE can’t beat them but BBC can. So logic says by form BBC, TSS, THEN NUDGEE or is it Churchie or even Terrace. I will put a pencil mark for a win to NUDGEE away from Jack Loss this weekend but I am not confident.

Grammar deserve the win because of the “ never say die” attitude this year v BSHS. It’s not BSHS year, so it must be an odd year- it means all schools need to be scared of them next year as it’s rare for them to go many years without premiership quality 15 on the field. Grammar deserves one win.

That's more like it! War talk with the Jack .oss pun (I can't bring myself to blaspheme and replace the R with an L in Ross).

I agree with most of what you write on all the games. My only point of difference is around the trial match between Nudgee and TSS. Nudgee were up by 24 to 7 in this game into the last 10 minutes when they replaced a few key players and took their feet of the pedal in the final third (the trial was played in 3 by 20 minutes sections) in pouring rain. I think they have improved greatly since then. You are right though, BBC really did a massive job on TSS and comparing like for like, BBC have the goods there without any doubt.

My eye will be on the front rows and the first scrums that pack down, but if BBC haven't fixed their front row after last week's debacle v Toowoomba, the atmosphere on their Toowong rugby fields at around 5pm on Saturday evening might be even more subdued than the atmosphere next door to BBC at the Toowong Cemetery.

Nudgee for the win.

Yep, I think we all know deep down in our hearts how this plays out...

The Nudgee rugby machine is too strategic, too tactical, and everyone made the mistake of suggesting that they are the weakest Nudgee team for years. They have been here before, Nudgee know how to win these games. TGS showed them where the cracks are, Nudgee will blow them wide open.
