Heard today that Wests cited ASY (Angus Scott-Young) for kicking out at someone who had hold of his leg during a driving maul .

No action taken on the field , no direct effect on West’s season.

He got a week suspension for the incident and was then loaded an extra week because he is a “high profile” player .

WTF ...... great inducement to get Reds players to have a run in QPR.

Also poor form from Wests IMO , makes no difference to them , very petty !

Not surprising though from what I’ve heard this season re some judiciary citations - these guys come back with a target on them unfortunately, tall poppy syndrome in full effect there.

I sincerely hope that ‘high profile’ player chat is just some hearsay. I’d love to see where in the suspension handbook it says rep players are loaded more? Does that mean every teams captain is also held to a different standard?

By the way to clarify what I mean by the judiciary citing, I’m not singling out West’s. But I have heard of several clubs getting into post game citings as a bit of tit for tat when they’ve been unhappy with results, across all grades, and in some cases the players didn’t want anything being done but slighted managers and coaches get involved. Seems very petty and I hope the QRU look at some of the gamesmanship at play.

Was at Wests today and was some really poor form by Souths players in 1st grade. Awesome to get the win and a well earned one too but giving the middle finger and telling people to go f*** themselves is really poor taste. Left me feeling disappointed after watching a good game.

This doesn't sound good. Have you seen the incident? I haven't so can't really comment. Do you know what time in the game this occurred?

Even though my beloved Filth went down, it was a great atmosphere at Crosby Park. Butchery was parochial. Tigers fans in voice.

Reaffirmation of why club rugby is great.

Anyone but Uni! Bookworms!!

I watched it live , so can’t give you a minute count. ASY (Angus Scott-Young) was only on for the second half , it was a driving maul that UQ score off.

I have not watched the replay but I saw it live. it garnered a lot of groans and WTF from the Wests supporters because it happened down the southern end of grandstand where Unis opponent generally congregate. Also it wasn't a leg kicking out, I remember it as a stomp on the shoulder, close to the head.

Had the incident happened on the other side of the field down the other end... IDK how that incident plays out with visit to the tribunal. ASY (Angus Scott-Young) would certainly escape punishment had he been playing in his Dads eras where HD video footage of that kind of thing is not readily available of QPR fixtures for the tribunal.

Anyways good luck to UQ and the rest of the teams playing finals footy. I am on the Bond Uni bandwagon!

Was at Wests today and was some really poor form by Souths players in 1st grade.

Souths Colts beat Wests with a bonus point. (knocked Wests Colts out of the semi final spot)

Souths Reserve grade got a draw and will meet Wests in the minor semi final next week.

Souths Premier Grade squad, who clearly would of made lineup decisions to give their colts/reserve grade the best shot to qualify went out to Scifleet stadium and avoided the wooden spoon after the final siren.

Yes there's no place in the game for the middle finger and that kind of language - but lets praise Souths for that result yesterday. I am a couplr weeks removed from calculating the Dougherty Shield scores and wondering if Wests was any chance of winning this (knowing i had circled these 3 fixtures against Souths as wins for the bulldogs)

Congrats to the magpie faithful.

I’m not sure what Scott Young is supposed to do in this situation. He’s illegally been taken out of a maul & then had his foot held onto illegally. The West player has held his foot close to his own throat.
My opinion doesn’t matter. The judiciary gave him a week for the offence and another week ‘as a deterring factor due to his high profile’. I have no idea what that actually means. Speaking to the Uni coaches yesterday, Heenan has never asked for a citing of an opposition player in 16 years of being a QPR Head Coach.
This is poor form & sour grapes from Wests.

Agree that it didn’t look great , but the reason he had his shoulder stepped on was because it was wrapped around ASY (Angus Scott-Young)’s left boot when it had no right to be there .

My issue is Wests citing and the loading.

Call me old school , but he wouldn’t have got stomped on if he wasn’t illegally holding on and again what does Wests have to gain by it?

Do Brothers still have the Rohrig Development squad or whatever it’s called? Must be a long waiting list now with Wilson’s Wallabies debut today. It’s good when a club can implement a program and there are tangible results like this. Even if it’s the Filth!

Firstly I can guarantee you Mick Heenan picks the best players for the team, the club and to ultimately to Win this week and into the future. Not what the reds may or maybe not ask him to do.

Has big history of it over many years but probably most notably when he stuck with his 9 at GPS over the returning reds players Will Genia

If Nasser was picked - big red and his coaching Team would have complete confidence in him to get the job done.

Secondly add Tom Banks to the same Harry Wilson category as well. Tom spent a year in the UQ acadmey After being cut front he reds WTS before getting picked up by the brums

As for citing issue - he obviously did something wrong to get a week - but the loading of an extra week due to who you are is crazy - should work the other way if he has a clean record - more rugby at highly levels and no foul play.

Probably also worth mentioning the wests reserve hooker could of/should of gotten cited as well for a swinging arm cheap shot to the man on the ground. Start a dangerous game of people citing everything and then everyone spending time at a tribunal

So did ASY (Angus Scott-Young) not play against Bond?

Or does his two weeks get served in the finals.

I would have thought if he was cited that the hearing would be this week.

Again smoke & mirrors of judiciary hearings - results should be published for open & frank disclosure IMHO.

Congratulations to the Tigers for winning the minor premiership. Tough win against the filth and great result for the boys from Yoku Road.

Post game sightings aren’t necessarily heard and reviewed until up to three weeks post the game. There was one recently between GPS and West’s where the West’s bloke was at risk of missing finals due to an incident from two weeks prior. Luckily it didn’t end up being anything serious but the QRU really need to get this judiciary stuff sorted. It’s becoming a joke.

So what's the opinion on the major and minor semis?

Here is mine for what its worth.

Can Uni bounce back or will Easts come up with a complete performance - their defence on Saturday was good but their attack, line-out and goal kicking (surprisingly given the season Pils has had) were down - so you would expect them to fix those issues this week. The Easts back 4 forwards - Uru, Milosovic, Mowen & Gunn is pretty handy. Easts will be hard to beat but Uni have great finals experience - Easts by 3 (a scrum penalty).

Bond can they keep it going v GPS finals experience. Remember GPS beat Bond only 10 days ago - great effort by Bond to secure their first premier grade finals spot but I think it might be a bridge too far for Bond - GPS by 10.

The loser of the major will be a little concerned about their preliminary final opponent regardless of who it is.
