How is it that, in a game that we won and, in doing so took the result to 4 in a row for the first time in 4 yrs, we’ve just chewed up about 4 pages talking about a 21 year old who made 2 mistakes all game. In the midst of that one poster seems still disappointed we don’t play rugby like we did in the 80s, one poster has all but accused him of taking some sort of ill advised substance and someone else has used it as a chance to continue his unending crusade against all things league.

Some of you really write some shit.

I thought they had.
But yeah, with you on this.
All a bit rank, really.

To me that is the essence of Petaia’s issue great athlete, in the simple world of league a good player but somewhat short of the necessary smarts when it comes to rugby.Kellaway is nowhere near the athlete that Petaia is, however Kellaways rugby smarts are a long long way ahead of Petaia’s at present.

wow, despite theses smarts Kellaway is 25 years old, couldn't get a start at the Tahs, went to the Rebels struggled still and went overseas for a couple of season before he returned and lived up to his schoolboy potential. Jordan Petaia is still 21...

maybe its an experience thing also hey?

But a drug cheat according to MST. A claim NOT being dismissed here at GGR.

I'm not making it up.

I am literally sitting with my nephew right now discussing this, he was in Petaia‘s year (TSS though). Says he was a freak, which we all know. Bad hammys though.

ironically I don't think he has done a hammy, it has been shoulders and quad/groin strains... but yeah it does speak to an imbalance in his physical development which some of those outside backs have early on.

With all respect, MST didn’t ever say he was a drug cheat. He intimated that he might be experimenting with alternative medicines, or peptides.

This is gold. I have several takeaways from the game, none of which I’ve brought up yet. We seem to get distracted by meaningless crap sometimes. Petaia is definitely worth a discussion but as you point out hardly a focal point from last night.

Um, we're not some sort of Rugby ICAC. The suggestion that a player might be trying supplements (plenty do) or something else in their conditioning programmes is hardly defamatory.
And nobody said he was a drug cheat.
It might be plain wrong, and personally I think Petaia might just be a bit underdone after some injuries. I don't agree with the suggestion that his issue last night was anything other than bad cramping, which can just happen.
Save the histrionics.

not even chatting about Hooper playing on the wing for 15 minutes
We really didn’t deal with Kerevi going down. I assume one of the wingers (or maybe Hodge) was meant to go off for Wright while JOC (James O'Connor) came on for QC (Quade Cooper). Rennie with one eye on the RC probably started the subs 5 to 10 minutes too early. Credit to the Argies for fighting when we were disjointed with the changes.

In relation to last nights game Petaia’s performance may not justify the volume of post. However in relation to the future look of the Wallabies team it does justify discussion. Fullback is an issue in the Wallaby backline Banks didn’t set the world on fire before he was injured and Hodge is only serviceable so a very open position and there has been a bit of push for Petaia to be given a go. Before I get jumped on I don’t know who is campaigning for him and how much he is involved personally. All I know is that there is a school of thought Petaia should be given a go at Fullback. So to have some discussion around the most open position in the backline and a player keen for it is appropriate.
My thoughts on the matter are Petaia to fullback is a Brad Thorn decision and let’s pass judgement at the end of Super Rugby 2022.

Would have been good to see JOC (James O'Connor) come into 12 and play alongside Quade. This is a more likely scenario down the road.

Another thing that let us down was kick off receptions.

Hey man - if we kicked blokes out for writing shit I'd have been gone years ago.

Part of the joy of forums. Talking absolute shit with randoms who are all probably blind most of the time.
