Jeez so now its what
LHP: Bell, Brown
THP: Smith, Holz, Tauakipulu
Both: Faulkner & HJH (Harry Johnson-Holmes)

It is safe to say with Tauakipulu retained and Holz recruited that Breen is still academy or released?

Brumby Runner

Wish Archer all the best. Absolutely smashed in his first (and only, I think) game for the Brumbies this year. Needs a lot of development yet to make Super Rugby standard.

Ruan was always a favourite when with the Brumbies. I thought he was the better of the twins. Seems like he might have a few demons to conquer.

Interesting chain of events for Ruan,

Couldn't get to the Giltini's to join JP (he's actually still listed as a member of their squad), re-signed with the Reds, got injured, came back through Brothers, walked out on the club mid-game, retired from all rugby in June and now signed with the Tahs in October.

It will be interesting to see if he gets back on track. I thought he was a top 5 prop in the country in 2020, but things went off the rails a bit since then. Good signing though for the Tahs if he gets things right.
His biggest issue playing QPR last year was his very evident lack of fitness and was too gone come scrum time to dominate the way he normally would and did in his years playing for the Reds in Super Rugby and GPS in QPR.

He basically looked well short of a run ( and maybe a bit injured?), I'm sure with a full preseason behind him, will be an asset to the Tahs.

I thought Vest had been one of UQ's best the last few years. Was one of the only forwards who actually stepped up against the dominant Easts pack in 2020.

Probably stuck in the position of whether he is big enough for a professional second rower and mobile enough to play backrow. But I really like his game.
Vest is similar to Angus Scott-Young in size and height, has had two very good seasons for UQ in 2020/21. Was their MVP in 2020 and very close again this year. His lineout skills are good , gets off the ground quickly and steers/directs a driving maul well. Probably more importantly , he lifts to the occasion, plays hard and runs good lines.

He played for Norths in SS and for the Sydney Rays I think in NRC before coming to UQ.

Maybe they are hoping that Joseph Sua'ali'i will change his mind and join us in the international sunlight instead of playing that other awful, insular, game.
Hopefully in a couple of years - gosh I tried to watch nrl grand final but got bored after 10 minutes as the straight line of players on attack and defence is what kills my interest as lacks variation.

Yep depth at prop looks fine - outside backs depth concerns me including no specialist super rugby proven fullback. Lock wise we are probably ok with hanigan and youngsters on the improve..sure world class lock signing would not go astray but unlikely to find one of those given in hot demand worldwide

New article (SMH paywall) mentions Coleman hit a lot of dead ends in his pursuit of a proper lock.
