Not a fan of oval stadiums either but apart from that it's pretty well located. Easy to get to and disappear to a million and one pubs or bars afterwards.
MCG is far better, they have over developed around marvel it creates bottle necks trying to get from the ground to the station when it’s half full. When it is anywhere near capacity it’s an absolute nightmare

Presumably with Marvel able to shift the stands in slightly for rectangular sports that the views will be better than they would be at MCG (so far away).

Don’t like marvel as the venue, it’s a terrible ground a lot of Melburnian’s hate it. While the ground owner/operator always gets a cut it’s an AFL owned venue so they will take a decent slice of the pie
The only good venue for rectangular sports in Melbourne is AAMI Park. Too small for events like this. In my mind would be perfect for a RC test against Argentina.

I have a question, will it being a minor final for AFL on weekend, will there be plenty of accomadtion in Melbourne?
I think it good sense to have game on Thursday of that week to avoid straight ot competition and some can maybe take in both games.

Well there may not be a game in Melbourne. Only one of the top 3 sides are Victorian.

If Melbourne win the right to host a prelim it then depends on the match up. If they play Sydney of Brisbane most of the ticket allocation for those sides will be snapped up by Melbourne based fans as both sides originated in Melbourne.

Depends a lot on the teams playing and whether the game is on Friday night or not.

If it's a big interstate club and the game is on Friday night, then there's potentially going to be some squeeze on accommodation.

If it's two Victorian teams and/or the game is Saturday/Sunday then I'd say you'd be fine with accommodation. Public transport means you can easily stay outside the CBD and have some fun away from the hordes after the game.

They games will be Friday night and Saturday night to ensure there is a 7 day break for the teams in the GF. No chance of a Sunday break.

Out of Melbourne based clubs it looks like only Melbourne is a chance to host a preliminary and as they will likely finish top and be the number one seed they will play their preliminary on Friday night to give the winner an 8 day break
