Clubs measure their success hugely on the number of professional players they have registered at the club. They rightly believe this status will encourage juniors and colts to register with them. Nothing wrong with a professional player turning up to play for their club on a Saturday. The fans love it.

It’s not a new thing that Academy players and Super Rugby players return to clubland towards the end of Super Rugby season. Its been happening for years, it’s just there are a few more of our Queenslander based Rebel players in the mix. I don’t think we will have the return of the likes of Powell and Ross HP this year.
They like it even more if they were a junior at the club, then they can take credit for the development pathway, which they deserve to do.

Vudogo and Maiva aren't though.....neither Haylet Petty, Gibbon or Hosea who featured regularly in 2021 season.

Featured regularly? Hosea played 1 game. Gibbon and Haylett-Petty played maybe 2 games each... The old fact-checker must be broken round here ;)

The only Rebels you could say featured "regularly" for Wests in 2021 were Vudogo, the Gordons and the Vaihus. The latter two played Wests colts/grade before representing Melbourne.

Any around the grounds reports re fields this weekend?

Hopefully the rain eases tonight and into tomorrow so most clubs are able to play as normal.

My guess is wests & brothers would reschedule.

the other home games (Easts/GPS) have hosted some pretty sodden contests before.

Some parts of the world (Scotland, Wales, NZ) where you wouldn't get any games if you wont get wet

If it is saturated at 3pm on Saturday, I am not sure one extra day makes a world of difference.

Rain today has definitely been strong at times but no where near as constant.

Tell that to GPS. Apparently they’ve closed their fields and won’t play this weekend.

Interesting, did the just make that decision this afternoon? As of last night I was told all games scheduled to go ahead.

Wests have cancelled Friday night game tomorrow.

Good mail Reg - GPS officially confirming the cancellations.

I wonder if Wests and Brothers will follow suit considering their fields are currently closed. Unsure what it's like at Easts.

The competition BYE round between Rounds 11 and 12 makes the rescheduling quite easy.

if any club shouldn’t be cancelling. It’s GPS… they have a have dozen ovals to play on.

maybe it’s actually a localised flooding issue. I know GPS has a creek running by it, does that ever break its banks?
Would hate for a couple of colts prospects to be washed away all the way to Kedron where they’ll end fished out and starting premier grade at norths.

Brothers have also postponed their game against Norths. Wests and Easts still set to go ahead at this stage.

GPS and Brothers probably happy to get those games postponed. Both teams will be strengthened by returning Reds by 9th July which is well after Super Rugby season finishes (and let’s be honest the Reds are looking like they’ll be all done by early June).

Filipo Daugunu has been named on the wing for wests this weekend (if the game actually goes ahead)

I can’t ever recall a wallaby who turns out in clubland as frequent as Filipo.

He either really loves rugby or the powers to be want him to continue to find his Mojo back in clubland.
