You actually raised a good point there about the World Cup games so it prompted me to investigate a little. Just went back to RWC 2019. NZ v Canada, plenty of first liners playing, and Wallabies v Uruguay, same thing, plenty of Wallaby first liners on the field. Maybe not an indicative sample, not sure.
I'm not really fussed because it means the Tahs have a decent shot at winning and I reckon these kinds of ploys have a tendency to backfire (loss of momentum etc) - but yeah, plenty of comps have rules against wholesale changes to preserve the spectacle of individual games like the EPL.

I remember Blackpool getting fined for throwing a game once because they knew they couldn't beat a top of the table side and had a relegation team shortly after.

But yeah - probably not worth the outrage.

Blues entitled to rest players to freshen up for the finals because they can't drop a spot by losing is a bit different to Blackpool. They've earned that right, but agree it might backfire because momentum is a big factor. They also haven't lost this game yet

Gamble, Hooper, Harris and Jake Gordon should be too much for Anton Segner, Adrian Choat, Taine Plumtree & Sam Nock and I suspect that is where the game will be won.

Does it really break momentum if it isn’t there “proper side” that loses?

Pleased to see Blues rest and rotate - Blues bye got all stuffed up covid reschedules earlier in the season.

Still plenty of talent in that Blues team so it should be a fun contest.
Yes we accept kiwi teams have more depth…don’t care personally what team they out out as we control our own destiny and not who is put in the team sheet so we win we claim it and celebrate it with no excuse from blues for resting players as that is a cop out and disrespectful.

Exactly RN, there is no excuse, the team that is going out represents the Blues , so there should be no disrespect shown for result if Tahs win!

Somewhat surprised RTS (Roger Tuivasa-Sheck) isnt playing though. You'd think he'd be keen to get as many minutes as possible to press his case for the ABs. And he shouldn't be tired. He's played a fraction of what he would during an NRL season.
I was wondering about RTS (Roger Tuivasa-Sheck) to Derps, only for experience, but I can see why perhaps Rangi wanting him freshened up so he playing at top of his game in finals? I not sure it's the minutes you play , but how much energy you expend in the minutes you play.

Actually wondering if this is not a master stroke by Rangi?? Just maybe Tahs will read all the stuff about them now walking the game because of 'B' team etc, and may not be quite as fired up?? See Rangi may of thought Blues would lose anyway, so playing mental games??;);):p

They're the only top 8 team that can't move on the ladder.

They've earned the right to rest players. What does it have to do with respect? It's entirely tactical and they can do what they think gives them the best chance in the competition.

I have absolutely no issue with it.

The Brumbies aren't guaranteed third on the ladder which is why they aren't resting players. They can still move up to 2nd or down to 4th.

As for being a Waratahs fan and not wanting to attend now because you don't think the opposition is good enough? Give me a break. Someone else will gladly take your tickets.
I agree. The Blues can now give their back ups a full game against a good side ...and no doubt they will relish the chance of some much needed match time. A luxury of the squad performing well through the season, with no threat to their first place on the ladder. Waratahs will play who’s there .... and keep their momentum going.

The word is he's been pretty banged up with some shoulder niggles. Playing in midfield you have to deal with some pretty heavy traffic with some large players. Makes me wonder if he is cut out to be a test match midfielder.

Kiwis never go onto a rugby pitch without expecting that. Such is their lack of respect that they think they can do it without any of their best players. We should always be aiming to play the best players every time we go on the field.
If this is the case, we should score 100 points against this Blues A team so they never do this again. Are we capable? Lol
