It would be interesting the see the teams selected initially with all players considered, then remove the injured players and put in the actual team that will be available.

This way we can see the real pecking order for players in the selectors eyes.

Not sure it would be that simple, I guess it depends on RA's goal for this team. Is it to win at all costs or more development style. Plus you'd assume a lot of rotation throughout the tournament.

selections are always contentious at all levels.
remember it is only the opinion of a few people at best based on what the coach is looking for or the style he / she wants to deliver.

Plenty of cases where an overlooked player has gone on to be a high performer in another arena.

You’d hope players like Blyth, Pesitoa, Carter Gordon, et al would have been told where they need to improve
Is Gordon injured? He didn't play club rugby on the weekend - or at least wasn't named, but I missed the game.

Seems the answer to Wright's exclusion is injury, so maybe the same for others.

Its really strange, half the rebels have gone back to club footy & some are just still in Melbourne training

No idea on Gordon, I was just using him as an example. It would be nice to know who wasn’t available and why, but either way I’d hope and think that probably players on the radar who missed selection would be made to understand what they have to work on the have a better chance of selection next time.

Gordon posted on socials this past Saturday a photo of him and Matt To'omua about to hit the fairways at some golf course in Victoria.

Heres hoping he is back in clubland soon

still reckon the contracted players should play club rugby in the state they are contracted.

This will drive up the standard in Melb and Perth (and Canberra). Which in turn will create a bigger pool of selectable players.

Carter Gordan would go backwards at a rate of knots if he was to stroll out for Power House in the Dewar shield, we want him to be a wallaby not help bring up the standard of our club comp

100% agreed - this notion they have to play their club rugby in the state they are contracted is ridiculous.
so local lads working on improving their standing get punted sideways for a mercenary who showed no resolve to stay in qld even with all the support and help given to him? Where is a bit of loyalty?

I thought QPR was the breeding ground for Qld Rugby given that is where the revenue streams flow. Dont know how much effort or $$$ the Rebels contribute to the running of QPR?

You should complain to the QPR club that wants a starting Super Rugby player to play for them when available.

Not everyone is playing for a contract mate.

if someone is hell bent on this pathway and feels hipped by a returning super rugby player well then the grass is always greener at norths.

99% of players are at rugby clubs because of their friends or family. Stop looking at everything thru the prism of “talent finding”
