or perhaps our best FIT 6? Would I guess be a little wary of starting Akira after so long off anyway?
Boy RTS (Roger Tuivasa-Sheck) is one out of box and genuinely wonder is Goodhue still not quite right?

This is gunna sound crazy but hear me out...

1. When you name a squad of 36 for a three-match series don't pick guys who aren't likely to be fit enough to play in any of them.

Edit: internet connection restored...

2. If someone is found to be "not quite right" mid-series, send them home to get right & maybe replace them with someone who's a chance to play and/ or can benefit from spending time in the setup.

Damn they watched last week’s loss and thought Samisoni was the problem? Rough.

Showing up the tenured sleepy front rowers is frowned upon.

Seeing the lineout strengthened with Whitelock's return, the shifting of S.Barrett to blindside, and bringing in a kicking 12 in Havili, I deduce that the game plan will be... crash-ball-12 all day long and Beauden-the-backfield-10 lobbing up lazy high kicks for 50 minutes. Gotta play that big brain 5D interdimensional chess. Kicking for territory, attacking the lineout, mauling a lot, and using the big winger for crash-ball? Nah bro. Too obvious and sensible. That sort of defeatist thinking is the recourse of lesser teams like the RWC or Super Rugby champions, or the team that spanked us at the last RWC.

EDIT: oh yeah, there's no big winger either lmao. gg.

I ws a big Akira fan but he was pretty disappointing last year particularly when we needed someone to step up eg. against South Africa.

yep, I agree, but we not going to have 36 players in WC are we , but I guess one of reasons they have had the likes of Frizell, PT etc training with them is for exact reason. I wouldn't mind betting that DMac has had a run with them too.

100%. It doesn't help that ever since Foz took over they refuse to ever move Ardie from 8.
But problem for Sotutu is probably our best player is Ardie, who is at 8. I understand there is the Ardie should be 7 argument, but think perhaps if he is our best player, and he is playing 8, would you change it if not needed. I actually a little disppointed we haven't seen Sotutu at 6 maybe? He seems to have skills to go there or is defence a problem? Not sure as Rangi has never really run him there much has he?

Trying to think how many times I have seen Bundee at 13 WOB.
I doubt he'll line up at 13.

Irish press have Henshaw at 13 and Bundee at 12.

They both played together at Connacht a few years ago and have been interchangable at times in those positions.

Funnily enough some of Henshaw's best rugby has been at 13 as he has a bit more space so might see him make an impact on Saturday

I see Sir Buck had a crack about AB skill levels & lack of tactical variety.

I don't have a real issue with the skills other than some of the kicking from hand being a bit aimless at times (& to be fair that's true of pretty much any team at pretty much any time they're struggling for go-forward) but the tactical stuff is really giving me the shits, in particular the inability to change from Plan A (go three wide of the ruck/ maul/ scrum, create a contact point, recycle & repeat until something happens or somebody does something individually brilliant) when it's not working, as happened yet again in Dunedin.

It's been happening for a long time now so it's not just a Fozzie thing, it has to be systemic (a consequence of the continuity of coaching from Sir Ted to Sir Steve to the current group, perhaps) to the point it's now almost institutional i.e. "All Blacks don't xyz, it's not what we're about".

That has to change & I'm not sure changing the HC and/ or AC's is gunna do that unless they bring in complete outsiders who've not been brought up entirely within the NZ system.

Guessing Fozzie thinks fine then, you tenured flops in the pack got us into this mess, now get us out of it.

Still, looking at the 2 teams, the ball looks to be in Ire's court. Play to their potential, limit tinpot intercepts and cards, and they win.

Poor old impactless and uncoached AB pack will truck it up the guts, praying the seas will part..... and when they dont..... the terror and bewilderment in their eyes will be 2007 quarter-final horror level
