Congratulations to both Brothers and Norths - top quality match 4 tries apiece with Brothers taking the chocolates 26-20.

Norths forwards dominated in the second half and they certainly finished the stronger team who will know they can beat Brothers based on today performance- intercept try to Brothers proved costly.
Full credit to Brothers defence.

UQ big loss v South.
East important win v West.
Bond another away win GPS.

Tipping nightmare. Competition wide open.
agree competition is wide open.

probably 6 or 7 teams could make the finals depending on how they perform over the next 4 weeks

Have to say I was quite disappointed in the decision 2nd half to award Brothers a scrum penalty when they were going backwards at a great rate of knots. Still don't quite understand that after, as you say, clear forward and scrum dominance in the second half. A cracking game.

Pat Byron seems to be building something at Norths.

With a good bunch of colts on the way things are surely looking up for the Eagles.

He's the Premier Grade coach. I believe Dan Richie is the Colts coach and coordinator
oops my bad. Thought I was in the Prem Grade forum.

Anyway as a whole club things are looking like a bright future for Norths.

ya reckon? I am hearing they might have the right people in the right positions for the first time in a long time though. They got a lot of work to do in my opinion.

Ongoing recruitment and retention will still be the challenge as it is for many clubs. One good year of recruitment or retention of some Norths Juniors post school doesn't make a long term team but lets hope they can do it and be competitive for a while.

I’m predicting/hearing that may change come 2023 given the complete turnaround of the colts. I know there’s some people at GPS who rate richie’s work highly, we’re not sure how much longer cowboy will coach prems for either.

GPS need to do something with their Colts program.
How can you be uncompetitive with the players like Howes, Peirce, Dilman, Lucey, Bannister, Moller and Rosanowski.
They would all be in the top 3 in their
Position across the comp.
Imagine what Dan Ritchie would do with them.

To be fair, this year was always going to be a challenge for us losing 12 x 20 year olds from last years premiership team. History shows the older teams in colts tend to perform better. I agree those players listed are still quality and still eligible again next year, but look at our key position players last year - 2,7,9,10,15 - were all 20 bar Baker and Floyd. We probably didn't take advantage of the premiership as far as recruitment went though, marist brings volume, but their program has dropped away a bit of recent times.

You road on the coat tails of all the hard work recruiting in the previous years.
Didn’t capitalise on the premiership as well as loosing players such as Ethan McFarland and Malaki Taulani now playing Colts 1 for other clubs.

GPS Colts 1 should still be competitive.
Peirce, Howse, Bannister, Dillman, Mollar, Cox and Rosanowski are all final year colts. That’s more u20s than most other Colts teams.

Norths this year the biggest turn around in colts of the last decade?
Next few weeks will decide - I remember they had a handy year a few seasons back but this team really has the potential to go well into finals considering points deducted and earlier games like Uni round2 and Bond round5 where I believe they were the better side on the day. I’m sure no one would disagree they were totally on par vs a very talented brothers last Saturday as well. Love to see them finish the season well.

I'd say we're still more than competitive, still the only team to have beaten brothers this year...

Oh FFS

GPS better not even entertain the idea of moving on from the current colts coaching staff, the outfit that turned the 2020 laughingstock of colts rugby into the premiership team of 2021.

Back the current staff of Kite and Torkington into 2023 and leave Dan Ritchie over at norths colts unless you can you got a better opportunity for Dan? (Reserve or prems)

Try the hard nose of 1,3,4,8 - Downes, Halapio, Geraghty and Byrne. That was the grunt last year and allowed Floyd to play expansively from the back.

The Tiger Colt had a more predominant 20 year old issue with their GF team in 2021 and therefore have a young team in 2022. They had a 10 all draw with GPS recently. The only difference for the rest of the season is their Junior Wallaby - Craig, Annan and Roiri - have come back to Colts. So they might scrape into the 4. But don’t have the firepower to win the comp.

GPS have u20 Meyer, Baker and Aubrey in Prem grade for experience and probably because the Reds want them there for development. That is fair enough but they won’t win the comp either.

Norths are not letting Ritchie go anywhere. The change in depth at Norths this years is definitely key. And their belief to get the wins over UQ. They will be confident of getting over Easts at home this week in Colts 1 and 2. Lost by a point in both fixtures a couple of weeks ago.

^Not to take away from your hincty sweets, however, not so much a sledge on Norths as much as it is the truth on UQ. And that is they aren't very good and I think will miss the 4 or just scrape in

In 80% of their games this year they haven't been able to get past 19 points

And Norths should have dusted them in the 1st round at UQ if not for fuck up after fuck up in their line out , but to be fair , I understand Norths played with a true 2 that game
