Get it straight! It is warhorse not warehouse. I note that you only took issue with one aspect of my reply to your load of rubbish about Souths. Maybe a "whole team" was a slight overreach but certainly a significant number of "recruits" while the Reggies run 7th.

Of course I was calling out the one issue. I know you weren’t purposefully lying. You were more exaggerating the situation and I was just simply pointing out a unfounded narrative about how wests is filled with pro players who have no previous allegiance to the club.

I have had a more than 50 year connection with Souths and have a close association with Reggies and 1st Grade.
All this rubbish that guys don't want to play 1st Grade, and we are stacking in 2nds and 3rds is absolute rot. I see Reggies players before every session speaking with coaches about what they need to do to play Prems.

The club has had a full rebuild which is not finished. Prems regularly run out up to 10 players who came through the Colts system and Reggies do the same. The Prems and Reggies players are the same age and in most positions they are on similar levels. Prems are building something, which in the next year or 2, is going to blossom in to a Premiership.

3rds and Reggies are more advanced with results as the competions are easier, Reggies won the comp last year, 3rds were minor Premiers and Grand Finalists(after receiving the Wooden Spoon the previous year) and 4ths were Grand Finalists. This is testament to the work done on the rebuild and changes in the club like no fresh benches and selecting 1st to 5th Grade on merit each week.
I won't comment on the last paragraph of your post, but this part explains what people are asking.

Having a strong number of Colts feed through onto grades is indeed a rebuild, from memory the Colts 1 & 2 got the chocolates in 2019 and no doubt now feature in both 1st and 2nd Grade squads. This "bottom up" rebuild should be applauded as it hopefully will be sustainable and does take time and patience rather than a quick fix.

Also having 1st and 2nd Grades at similar stages of development and ability answers why Reggies are top of the table and Prems are not. Would imagine there would be a big differential at most clubs, certainly UQ Prems would put their Reggies' away pretty comfortably.

Bond and Norths should not be on the same level as Easts and GPS, with the greatest respect.
Hell I back in nZ now, but when in Brisbane used to find GPS as one of clubs we liked going to least, mainly preobably for parking etc, mind you there weren't many field had decent parking anyway, Wests and Brothers weren't flash either.

You hit the nail on the head, the reason Souths are doing so well in Reggies is because the have a wide spread of lower level 1st Grade players. Both sides are very similar in skill on paper, some of them have spent a good part of the season in both sides i.e Leslie, Lauder, Kefu, Mone.

I was a believer in Colts programs creating sustainable pathways for 1st Grade, but the reality is it does not, have a look at how many Colt players actually transition into 1st Grade each year and you will find it is not a great deal. Dont get me wrong I think its important but its not the be all. The sustainable process IMO is to bring in high level players to assist and help grow what you do have.

Brothers need to get their fields cleaned ASAP.

3 players now being treated in hospital for infection, a few more still taking antibiotics. Could be a different looking side this weekend if they don't come good.

Not good.

how do you clean a field?

With great difficulty I imagine - I think there are a few products you can use, I had some powder stuff I had to cover my yard in (which is far smaller than an entire footy field) after the February floods as we had neighbours sewerage leaking into our yard. Not nice at all. But this constant rain hasn't helped them.

ATC (school) have only just re-opened their fields post flood because some not good stuff found on the fields. They have been professionally treated. New man Damien Steele will know all that needs to know.

Same with Terrace , the fields at Tennyson were closed for all of term 2 and only opened for the first time last weekend due to what came out of the river after the Feb floods. There's some decontamination process that they go through , don't think it would be a quick process.

Meet you at Bunnings.

If that is the reason, get it sorted. I got a very nasty infection on my arm once from a similar thing. Said it was a water borne infection probably caused by untreated recycled water used for the fields. Takes ages to get better as you are constantly re opening it even if bandaged to play.

Those players being treated for infection.......did they play on the top field or the bottom field? I recall the bottom field got slammed in the floods and both sewer and oil from the ground sumps in the mechanic shops around the ground all got dumped on that bottom field.

Of course, it's not unusual for sewer to be all over the place there................they certainly live up to their nickname.

Mixture of players from 1sts and 2nds, all played on the top field.

Yes I remember the issue with the bottom field, I know the Brothers guys had a big club cleanup to try and get it sorted.

It's not a simple and easy process according to my microbiol and medical mates. TBH - any club that agrees to play there with this an issue are taking a huge player health risk. All sorts of legal ramifications I suspect. In the olde days, it would be off the Ballymore. What's the option? Play at the Away team grounds if deemed safe? Play it online??

Lets not try and speculate about any legal issues about this on these forums, it never ends well.

I am sure Brothers are just as concerned as other clubs would be. They are playing away this weekend so hopefully use the next few days to get things tested and make some decisions. Also hard to prove exactly what where the infection stems from, although all signs point to you know what.
