Qld Premier Rugby 2022

He tried it in Super Rugby, didn't work and was found out when having to actually pack square. It's therefore no surprise he hasn't played more than 2 or 3 super games as a result of this.
Out of interest for correctness.. Van Nek suffered a serious hamstring injury in his debut Rebels match last year and missed almost the entire season with it, despite that he still managed 10 super rugby caps since last year.

Can Nek is a superb scrummager - virtually won Easts their last premiership by eating two fresh quality Uni front rows.

Sorry but Easts were outscrummed and out enthused last weekend.

Young ref did a great job and has a big future - worth noting he’s an ex Churchie lad who are a main feeder club for Easts and he would be well known there so there’s no bias - he reffed it as he saw it and I for one think he got it right and handled the game very well. And I saw Ben Mowen venting at him after the game which I thought was pretty poor. Just my opinion.

my comment didn't discuss last weeks scrum nor the referees performance, i just wanted to correct the claims about his Super Rugby career. Judge a player by his ability, but don't post misleading or incorrect claims to further a bias on the topic.

I dont think anyone was questioning the referee being biased and I actually think he did a good job for the most part, however IMO I simply stated that I think he got a few things wrong in the scrum, not observing from the problematic side of the scrum is a fundamental error and I believe he will do things differently moving forward. You only learn from doing and I think he will be a better referee for it - in reference to you affiliation comment, in most cases referees affiliated to clubs seem to be a lot harder on their own team to illustrate to the wider spectators they are not biased.

I hear the 3 wise men are back at Crosby this weekend.

Looking forward to the Zander/Flavell/Fa'agase vrs Hoopert/Rokoura/Christian battle this week, should be a cracker - hopefully more upsets on the horizons in the other games.

especially with the Christian brothers (Mosiah and Jayden) be defectors from UQ to the filth

what about Bradford Kapa. He left UQ couple of seasons ago and I thought he was a very good lock option for UQ. Now playing predominately reserve grade at the filth.

He started at Filth before a stint at UQ looking for Prem grade time but went back this year to land in reggies.

He only spent 2021 at UQ, came across from the Filth. There was a photo of Kapa in a Brothers jersey that QPR used as the promotional image for the Brothers v UQ game last year. Needless to say Brad copped a bit of grief from his then UQ team mates about it. Maybe they could use an image of him in a Red Heavies jersey for this weekend's game?

IMO UQ v Brothers positional match up:

1-Hoopert Brothers
2-Flavell UQ
3-Christian Brothers
4-Smith Brothers
5-Kapa Brothers
6-Morrey UQ
7-Wallis UQ
8-Mitchell UQ
9-Christian Brothers
10-Twidale UQ
11-Bulley Brothers
12-Stuart Brothers
13-Ripley UQ
14-Oats UQ
15-Adams Brothers
Coach-Heeno UQ

If the Zander TH project does not work UQ might be in for a long day at the office - the teams look evenly matched, However if Brothers Halves Christian & James fire off like they did against GPS this game may not be as close as we think.

Doing the numbers on the QRU/QPR's Team of the Weeks we have some clear leaders in positions and some very tight considerations for a Team of the Year so far (not including the wet round when only Wests and Bond played)

Hooker - each of Dobbins (Wests), Brennan (Easts) and Ma'afu (Norths) are equal with 2 votes.
LHP - Tuqiri (GPS) now has 3 votes from Samuela (Bond) and Moloney (Brothers)
THP - each of Talakai (Wests), Christian (Brothers), Van Nek (Easts) and Tiko (Wests) have 2 votes
Locks - plenty of spread here with Wolf (Norths), Byrne (GPS) and Rowe (UQ) only 2 votes each with another 18 players with one vote.
BSF - Anderson (Wests) has 2 votes here (also has 2 votes at OSF and 1 at No8). Both Upfield (Bond) and Tuilima (GPS) feature on the lock count too.
OSF - Pritchard (Bond) has 4 votes
No 8 - Fenner (Sunnybank) has 4 votes. Swerling (UQ) has a vote here and one at lock.
SH - Christian (Brothers) and Pilz (Easts) both have 3 votes
FH - Adam (Brothers) has 4 votes - he also has 1 vote at fullback.
IC - Skelton (Wests), Feliuaia Lene (Sunnybank) and Siakisini (UQ) have 2 votes each)
OC - Skipwith-Garland (Easts) has 3 votes. Feliuaia Lene (Sunnybank) also has a vote here as does Skelton (Wests).
Wing - Vidugo (Wests) has 4 votes and Bulley (Brothers) has 3. Fittock (Bond) has 2 votes here and one at fullback.
FB - Nicholson (GPS) has 2 votes. Whiteside (Wests) has one vote here and one at FH.

Ethan Dobbins riding the pine this weekend with Jordan Uelese named to start for Wests at Hooker.

Is Uelese likely to stick around for the rest of the season?

My QPR man crush at the moment is Masalosalo Tutaia - he has not made any team of the weeks, but he has been influential the past few weeks for Norths. It goes without saying I am a fan of how he is playing right now and hope he stays in union.

no idea - but when Efi Maafu got the call up to start for premier grade against Souths, I did have a lot of newfound respect for Ethan Dobbins who looked like a last minute addition into reserve grade.

lot of egos need massaging at wests. But respect to the players whom put their hand up and just want the minutes regardless of the team.
