Anyone get to watch 16As matches this week,

would love to get some information on the view joeys game and shore newo

big upset with shore 16s beating newo which I think will leave newo and kings on same amount of points leading into next weeks final game of the round

A good friend of mine with connections to SHORE has informed me of outside centre william rohrsheim facing a hamstring niggle. Will has been a solid defender at 13 and will be a big loss if his niggle continues throughout the week. 13 for the seconds at shore, Patrick 'star' slocombe is likely to replace him, who had a notably dominant performance on the weekend.

Tip results

Congratulations to the THREE tippers who correctly chose Kings. Well done to Love2scrum, OlderSlower and KOB1987
Only one person got the exact margin bonus and that was WL3

One week to go at KOB1987 has Love2scrum right on his heels.
The last week I am thinking of making one last addition.

Each game you place not just a winner BUT a score line.

Example. Scots v Shore....
Your pick is SHORE 28-15 (+13)

Final score is SHORE 28-15. You get 20 points!
That will shake the comp don't you think?

Slings, arrows and suggestions welcome.
As you are all aware this has been the very first tipping competition and will hopefully go on in 2023.

Scots vs Kings in 16 a's was a great game of footy Scots were unlucky to go down but some of the Kings backs work well together to dominate Scots although it was a close game Kings had the upper hand the entire game.

Kings backs and forwards worked very well, with couple key players in opens for both sides was good to see this match take place.

kings seemed to pick and drive there way up the field for a majority of the match. Thought it was a strange tactic but it clearly worked.

Hello Joker
Just wondering if you got the Newington Versus Kings results in the 13s A&Bs and 14As&Bs. As both these age groups have shown promise and Improvement, particularly the 14As. Its nice to know where they stand in their age Divisions.
Many Thanks if you can
I have asked a friend to request this on the Newington supporter group page.

Great game at Leichhardt. When Riverview plays to their capability, I don't even think Joeys supporters can deny them as the best team in the competition - we know this from the 20-7 scoreline in the first half..... Unfortunately, the View team has just came across a big roadblock this season, the roadblock being the ability to finish.

We saw this in the Scots game, when Riverview allowed two tries in the last 8 minute to taker the score line from 10-20 to 22-20.

I am undecided if this is a mental block or something to do with endurance. On one hand, in the Joeys match, Riverview's composure and confidence seemed to be drained as soon as Joeys levelled the score at 21-20 at the start of the second half, which leads me to believe it may be a mental block; perhaps Riverview cannot play from behind, and they did look rushed and less-confident in the second half.

On the other hand, I see potential for this to be a strength + conditioning/endurance/fitness issue. Is this lack of composure simply just a result of burnt out players? View players maybe having used their energy in the first half to make up for their lack of size, and simply running out of juice? Interested to hear your thoughts on this, either way a real shame for a team that is capable of showing some of the most promise we see in the competition this year.

Ultimately, no matter if View shows the highest class rugby in the first half of a game, the final scoreboard is the only one that matters. Hope View is able to figure this out for 2023.

I saw something a bit different. I agree with parts. Joeys were heavily penalised in the first 20 at the breakdown. many of these were wrong in a technical sense. It took time for that adjustment to occur. Joeys also made some stupid handling errors too.

I have watched view over the last few years and make the following comment. View are great defenders when leading on the scoreboard. Once that is gone, you can get at them. They were belted in the second half and did well to keep the scoreboard to what it was. That did take mateship and it is a credit to them.

This Joeys team has shown a fair bit of grit. They really missed Fowler in the trials and he was great again yesterday. Their defense improved hugely from Barker as has their ability to control the game through position. The Joeys half was great again yesterday.

This view side is one of the better ones I have seen. A bit here or there on some of the other games and they would be in a stronger position on the ladder. View never die easy, but they are much easier when you are in front of them. Joeys just kept coming and you could feel after that try in the first couple of minutes in the second half it would be curtains.

What on earth could possibly get you to think that View are the best team in the competition, that is delusional. The Joeys team are far superior and when they played at their peak totally dominated field position and the scoreboard. It is a shame that some supporters are so one eyed that it distorts their ability to see facts as they stand. 31 unanswered points in front of a capacity crowd and you suggest View are the best team, that’s just ridiculous.

Well done to Joeys, they have grown all year after what started out as potentially the most even competition in 20 years. The other 5 teams are evenly matched but have not had the consistency or class when it mattered most.

Very fortunate no one was severely injured or killed in the stand collapse. That looked horrible.

View are a one half team. They can look fantastic for one half’s worth of time every match.

I’ve seen it too many times now. They led Barker by a lot. Led Scots by 2 tries. Up on Joeys. Only game they have managed to play the full thing has been Kings.

Is it conditioning… maybe. Or are they just a step below their opponents and can’t run with them for the full match? I think the glimpses have given us View fans false hope as they were widely written off in the pre season as going to be a clear step below. They have proved not to be a push over to their credit.

Did you read what I wrote? I said when they play to their capability they look the best in the GPS - the problem? They don't play to their capability. I clearly said "the final scoreboard is the only one that matters", and that while View show glimpses of playing "the best in the GPS", they are not consistent enough to make these "glimpses" last the whole game.

Also, not sure where you found 31 unanswered points; the final score was 35-20. I can help you find a link to the AAGPS website or Cluch if you like?

There is not much to add to the game. A lot has been said and from various perspectives. I wish to comment though on the results of having the game "offsite" for the first time. It was an applauded decision at the time to move the game. As written ad-nausea here, Riverview had every concern to host this game with so many reunions. What I am worried about is how this was handled.

From the first on-set this game was decidedly not an AAGPS schoolboy game. There is a certain "feel" to a schoolboy game with the sounds of families, schoolboys chatting, bloody bagpipes, drums and some chanting ringing in the ears. There is lively banter from the sideline and cheeky commentary from old boys. The air is filled with the smell of BBQ, mothers smiling broadly in canteens, old, old boys discussing the good old days and the smell of the pies wafting across the crowd at Shore. People are free to wander the grounds and enjoy every angle whether it be the carpark slope at Kings, the banks of the brick pit and Newington, the swamp bowl at View and the acreage of Shore, people can spread out and soak it up. Young families have space for small children to play while daddy watches the game. View has similar smells and sounds and is, and will always be, a massive occasion locals hate every two years. Simply put, "you buy the land you get the Indians".

Yesterday had NONE of this feel. People were confronted with heavy handed security, bag checks, police and even more security inside the crowd. Riverview bunting was everywhere. Three massive school crests adorned the field. I have never seen this before. Joeys goes to great lengths to have both schools’ crests on the field at this game. This looked overkill. Then you have commentator who couldn’t stop himself as all day he was plugging cookbooks, merchandise, thanking people, and scolding old boys to no avail. Areas had been roped off. Old boys herded in and told to behave. Access denied, simple requests were denied and people responded in kind. The mood changed. We were caged in, the venue did not reflect the sights, smells and feel of a schoolboy game. It was a reflection of another game where violence is permitted and expected, crowds baying for aggression, manners do not exist and standards of behavior are long forgotten. Yesterday, this was not a schoolboy crowd. Yesterday should never happen again.

Here endth the rant.
