Wallabies 2023

Brumby Runner

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Rennie certainly is held in low esteem by many, especially those with Red eyes, to be apparently dictated to by his Assistant. Not does he just insist on playing most of the Brumbies but now he is setting up his own coaching regime. Rennie must be dismayed.

I suppose if Razor Robinson was interested in the Wallabies some time in the future, he would be expected to accept a coaching team made up of a mixture losers from all Aussie sides rather than bring his own men with him, likely to be predominantly Crusaders personn el he is used to working with.

Get real. Rennie is the boss and no doubt takes advice from his Assistants as well as others he trusts. If he brings in Brumbies players and coaches no doubt atm it is because they are the most successful of our franchises. The wheel will turn and in a year or so, I won't be surprised if there is an emphasis on just as many or more Waratahs as they go from strength to strength. Undoubtedly, there will be very few Reds still in the mix.

Any appointment should be done through a clear and transparent process that isn't unduly influenced by regional bias and friends in the roles; to avoid these nepotism claims.

There's nothing to suggest du Plessis isn't the best person for the job.
So they should have gone without a defence coach when Taylor quit ?

These whataboutisms are irrelevant to the point being made that the optics of it are poor. That is it. Nothing to do with Rennie, and nothing to do with Reds v Brumbies.

Everyone wants the Wallabies to succeed, and have the best available coaching staff to guide them. It would be surprising if multiple existing staff from any one team, not just the Brumbies, are deemed as such.

Maybe Dan Palmer is just there to get some experience, but if that’s the case they should offer that up to coaches/assistants from the other franchises. Perhaps they did but they all gave a hard pass on having to spend a weekend in Adelaide. Agree the optics aren’t great though.

Is that your interpretation when I say; in order to avoid nepotism claims the recruitment process should be a clear and transparent process and not unduly influenced by regional bias and friends in the roles?

Who is the Aus A scrum coach?

If they are serious about the Aus A program and are running an end of year series then maybe Palmer is there to learn the wallabies way to impart on Aus A.

Complaining about team selections unduly being dominated by Brumbies, and now unfounded claims that the coaching staff is heavily loaded in favour of Brumbies coaches and Assistants is very much casting aspersions on Rennie as the head coach, whether or not it is couched in terms of transparency or need to avoid nepotism.

Dan Palmer, or someone who looks like him, was sighted in the coaches box. And the offended immediately jump to the conclusion he has been brought into the Wallabies coaching setup. Where is the announcement? What vacant spot did he fill? There could be any number of explanations for him being there, even likely as a guest of Laurie Fisher. And in any case, apart from Laurie, which other current Brumbies coaching staff are associated with the Wallabies? Dan the Man is a Wallaby Assistant Coach in case the offended are not aware. He has no current association that I know of with the Brumbies.

C'mon. Give it a break and save your bitching for when something actually happens rather than a figment of you overactive, provincial imaginations. You all know who you are.

I replied because Tomikin insinuated Palmer was the best person for the job. A subjective comment.

It's simple, any appointment should be done through a clear and transparent process that isn't unduly influenced by regional bias and friends in the roles; to avoid these nepotism claims.

If done that way you can keep your pants on BR.

Only someone like BR could be bothered writing that tripe......oh wait.

I understand McKellar is the forwards coach and if he runs the lineout there should be serious questions asked here. If there is a lineout coach I have never heard him mentioned.
I think McKellar is a smart guy but following the disaster in Argentina, I never read any criticism of him. Apologies to him if someone else is responsible for lineout but even then the forwards were piss poor in 2nd game in Argentina.

BR is right, we should all adopt his level of his overactive provincial imagination (which admittedly is the same level as me), just watch this thread then:

Well the best bloke for the Wallaby job will be Darren Colman after he coaches the Waratahs to victory next year! Brumbies who!

Read what I said, that was not it.. I said don't we want the best available candidate no matter the province which was in response to Reg and others saying 'it confirms the rumours he heard' and others saying it's a bad look...

Insinuating that the coaching staff are being inundated with Brumbies staff. There's been other coaches around the squad too, but seems like the bitching happened because Dan was around the team.

Well, if it is Palmer there in the photo, and it does look like him, he is already in Wallabies' coaching gear, so it seems likely it is some official capacity. I doubt he was lobbed some gear if he was Laurie Fisher's guest.
I never thought it was unusual to see young promising coaches brought in to get a feel for Wob camp.

If every time an intern turns up somewhere, the office was full of rumours you were training your replacement ....................

Regardless of how many Brumbies are in players/ staff set up, if we are winning games, carry the hell on.

1 from 1 with Lord Laurie at the helm.
