Hello Joker;

For the trolls who can be easily identified and intend to cause Mischief. I stand by the Movie "Lawerence of Arabia" in a scene where the Arab Cavalry, are attacking the Turks, Actor Peter O'toole playing Lawerence, yells out "Take No Prisoners. An approach we need to apply on this site.

We must maintain the high standards you and others have establish on this site. Talking about the word, that shall not be mentioned on this site, lowers the tone on this site. Particularly, as the offenders are neither interested or committed GPS Rugby. Instead, they are intent to making excuses for the failure of their schools Coaching and Rugby programs. Others are just intend on a " Adolescent Shit Stir",particularly, the trolls who have just arrived from a certain North Shore educational institution.
Thanks B&W for your kind words.

Yes, the forum has been the beacon for trolls since I first landed here after Sportal imploded. That forum was a magnet for hate, slander, bullying and everything an adolescent could think of. Mature, considered discussion was mocked openly. Sometimes I wish Sportal was still there so the trolls who take their simple minds away from here. This would leave the intelligent in charge to continue a mix of discussion, speculation, some fun/banter (that's my wheelhouse) but all done with a level of civility and good humour.

The "word that shall not be named" was a major pain here many years ago when I first arrived. We even gave a thread to the damn thing to draw the trolls away from this thread. It seems though they have become wise to the ruse and have abandoned that neck of the woods.

Young posters I have no issue with. This season we had two Under 14 lads who made great contributions and helped with the results for our competition tables. Then were was Wyvern boy who seemed to be a good contributor until he slipped up and was shown the door. I would rather they stick around and we can encourage them to "be better men" and demonstrate their ability to contribute in a meaningful fashion. Yes.....these lads are in the minority, but they are the future here and they will carry the standards forward. Each year we do have to deal with the trolls, but let us celebrate those students who actually demonstrate more than 2 brain cells than those who focus on slander, hate and division.

Really? We can speak openly about Newington’s cross code talent attraction but not Joeys methods? My sources are intergenerational, from players, students and teachers, so I’m happy with the fact base. As far as I’m concerned there’s no shame or glory In the approach, so it’s a weird line to try and avoid but ok.

It appears the forum standard is ok to discuss ‘recruitment strategies’ so I’m happy to comply in that regard.

On that point, It was a privilege to play with Ben Kennedy in 93 at Manly colts just before he moved to Joeys in year 12, he was a devastating player (I was average at best) Manly colts also had the Scotts Australian school boys too before they landed there, was quite a team.

Hope that’s all ok to discuss.

Moved to Joeys in 1993?
My records from Joeys say he was in year 12 in 1992 and not at the school in 1993.
You may have played GRADE with him at Manly in 1993 after he had left school.
I have no records of him playing colts at Manly.
Finally, he also came from Casino in year 12 so could not have played at Manly before going to Hunters Hill.

I think Barker would have to play Churchie first to prove it
As a ex Churchie and Barker student, I would say that Barker would beat Churchie. The Nudgee game was scrappy but at the core, Barker wins possession, plays the right end of field and takes the points. The 2nd best schoolboy side in Aust is Joeys at Hunters Hill. Barker is the best side in 2022.

The amount of money I would pay to watch joeys vs barker both sides at full strength… rugby au, GPS and CAS you need to make this game happen!

I think joeys would win if they were to play a game again. Never the less congratulations to barker for beating nudge I think this game has finnaly shown the difference of quality between nsw GPS/Cas vs qld GPS

Well we could be playing in a competition where the likes of Barker and Joeys go head to head every year. But I digress.

Hello Syd

That commentary was product a product of a Shore troll, who have no intention of serious discussion. These students have invaded this site, and filled it with fictional propaganda. As well as revealing, they are incompetent commentators.

So Syd stop playing to the adolescence crap, that has been exposed, to be nothing more than a schoolboy indulgence. .

As for the topic, you have mention,G&G have a strict policy of banning, the mention and discussion of the "S" word. You have clearly breached the rules of this site. So please abide by the standards,G&G have establish.
Options for B&W when S word mentioned:
1. Clutch pearls and seek safe space;
2. Dob the offender into mods and hope they are banned; or
3. Just dream of a time in the future when Nobbies are resurrected, not as a subbies team, but as an NRL team .

NB For the record, speculating about a Shore 16D boy making the firsts is not unrealistic. In 2009, the Shore 1st 15 contained two boys who were previously in the 16Es.

Hello Joker
A magnificent reply, it seems these trolls only want to trash successful Rugby schools and neither care or are interested in actual GPS Rugby. For they neither talk about, say the brilliant Joeys Brilliant Rugby program and neither give it the credit it deserves. They will blame their own schools defeats on imports, a most demeaning word and one that should be banned by the moderators.

So to the Trolls out there. If you spent as much time dong your Rugby training, both individually and collectively. You might just find your results in your A teams, would be closer to that of Joeys and Newington.

These results can be found in the 2022 site, sorry to disappoint you, but the evidence is there in Black and White, no pun intended.

So when the Newington 16As are successful as joint premieres(with our good friends from Kings), the troll will claim its imports. The fact is that this team has been successful and strong since they were the 13As. Of course such facts don't suit, the hate ridden agenda of such Trolls. Nor, will they accept, that Newington has employed talented Rugby coaches. Or it plays a successful style of Rugby, that lesser teams cannot match.

Finally, Newington and other schools have professional reputations of excellence in sport. If some teenager troll seeks to belittle that reputation, they are potentially entering a precarious legal position of Slander, against a school.

So to our moderators, please for your own positions, Ban these trolls, they are simply reducing this great site to "mud slinging" event with potential legal consequences.

You’re right, he was a year ahead of me, must have been 1992. Shame he went to league, would have been one of the great wallabies.

Why do you only call out mentioning “the word that shall not be named” in contexts your happy to?

Rather than this example you are liking in the image below?

So if it’s mentioned about Barker it’s ok, but about joeys and you get back in your high horse?

I think a balanced discussion would include both how schools attract/select talent and how they are coached. I’m sure Joeys rugby coaching is first class and all respect in the world to the boys and teachers as they persue excellence. Some GPS schools coaching is a little lose lower down (like Shore) and the Jo boys I know are top shelf. If I’m honest, your response seems a little defensive, but I’m not sure how the tone has been conducted in the past. I’m sure there’s been some tossers through here. I’m honestly curious how many boys in different 1st XV teams aren’t ordinary day boys, so the coaching vs talent discussion would be more clear.
I’d love to see the GPS/CHS/CAS working together better for the good of Australian rugby, God knows we need the help.

The backs running in the 100m, back rowers running the 1000m and the front rowers throwing the shot put…. What a day to get around.

Clearly you are new to the site, this is a GPS site, so what happens within the CAS system is within their system, not ours. Historically, we are different systems, so I not going to comment on their approach to schoolboy Rugby. It's that simple.

I would agree, we are defensive because as expressed, this site has been subjected to constant attacks by trolls, who've have nothing better to do, than belittle some great Rugby schools. As mentioned before, the trolls seek to divert attention from the real issues of schoolboy Rugby, such as playing standards, team and player performance.
