Moved to Joeys in 1993?
My records from Joeys say he was in year 12 in 1992 and not at the school in 1993.
You may have played GRADE with him at Manly in 1993 after he had left school.
I have no records of him playing colts at Manly.
Finally, he also came from Casino in year 12 so could not have played at Manly before going to Hunters Hill.

That is correct, BK was class of 92 then played colts at Manly from 93 until Super League came along with an offer too good to refuse from the Raiders. The rest, as they say is history.

If we did an audit of who ‘only won premierships’ without scholarships of this nature, you’d find it would be a very short list. Joeys has always been a Marist college collective side and other schools have recently (in the last 35 years) joined the scholarship arms race which ended up fracturing the comp. I think it’s actually a shame that so many schools have gone in this direction but the standard was set long ago, That said, it’s no fault if the boys.
What does “Marist College collective side” mean?

I think he’s making the innuendo that joeys offer “censored-ships” to boys from other Marist schools … which is b.s
Agree, Complete and utter b.s. it really is funny how so many chuck muck around on this topic based on nothing at all. Here is a real true story, this past season, one school (not Joeys) featured a star player who happened to be the son of a Joeys old boy. Prior to sending his son to that other school the old boy approached Joeys with the expectation of an arrangement. To his disappointment he was handed a copy of the fee schedule and was left to pursue alternative arrangements elsewhere. Joeys makes do with the players that turn up. A lot of good and keen players turn up because it is a competitive environment and runs a solid program.

WARNING

The cyclopath is out and about ready to smite anyone who shall say or allude to the "word that shall not be mentioned".

Just because you don't say it, doesn't make it correct to pursue here. Find another thread, start one if you like and then let the innuendo, smears, slanders and rumors fly there.

This thread is about the rugby and not about who has the biggest cheque book.

As my pictures indicated in my previous post?
A small piece of education for you then I shall move along....

CAS schools are allowed under their association constitution to offer students with sporting talent positions at their school. This has been always the way. I recall Waverley pinching the best swimmers from Scots College when I worked there. They weren't really pinching, just exercising their right to do so.

AAGPS (which this thread is all about) does not allow schools do what CAS can do. It is against the AAGPS charter.

So when another member posted his thoughts that scouts from Barker (CAS school) would be heading off to scout players then he is correct. No harm at all as they are exercising their right to do so. I gave him a "thumbs up" as he was correct and NOT making allegations against AAGPS schools. What the CAS do is there own bee's wax.

My days of giving other AAGPS schools a gob full can all be found here....feel free to read this thread.

This goes back to 2010.

That answers my question, thanks

I thought my question was very straight forward. To assist - if a school offered an academic scholarship it is advertised, kids apply and it’s awarded. Nothing cloak and dagger and it provides kids with opportunity that in some cases they may not have had it. If another school chooses to do it with sport why is it viewed by some as a dirty little secret?
Well then we have the same view.

I am keen to know of any Scots boys I should look out for next year. I believe they have quite a talented year 10 group with 3 or 4 boys who played in the opens this year.

Cheers,
BRB.
Year 12 2023: Henry James, Will Guilfoyle, Grayson reimer, Mateus Heslin, Arnaud Laguna and a seconds back who's name I've forgotten.
Year 11 2023: Leo Jaques, Zach Fittler, Toby Brial, Finlay bartlett, Jay McKenzie.
Year 10: Onitoni large and Max laverty.

Joker your education is correct. CAS has its own constitution as does the GPS. To all those CAS people that want to be part of the GPS it won't happen so move on.
The AAGPS exists as an association to run sporting and educational programmes for those GPS schools. They don't care what happens in the CAS and likely never will. It isn't all just about rugby and giving Barker who have only one decent team and we know why that is, an invitation into a rugby competition. The AAGPS schools attempt to produce all rounded kids and provide competition across a number of sports from rowing to soccer and debating. One of those sports is athletics and a GPS athletics carnival that dates back to 1892. Those schools are committed to these sports and as such a number of the rugby and soccer players will be participating this Saturday. Rugby season ended and the next sport rolls around.
Just because it might be nice to see Joeys play Barker or Nudgee does not mean anything because the schools move on to the next season and give kids every opportunity to represent their school in the upcoming Athletics carnival.
Good luck to all competitors this weekend. The 2022 schoolboy rugby season has ended. The CAS can boast about beating Nudgee. I can tell you no one in the GPS really cares.

Could be some sort of record - locking a thread 9 months before any rugby is played relevant to it.
MOVE ALONG.
Man, I warned them all. Maybe the "thread that will not die" could be reopened for those who want to kick a dead dog.
In the meantime, season 2022 is closed for me. I shall find a nice shady spot to rest for the off-season.

Join me soon.

Agree completely with your analytical points re the different constitutions, and I am not a Barker person.

Who said anyone wanted to join the GPS, completely overrating yourselves again, it just oozes, as you say, MOVE ON!
You have completely missed the point about the evolutionary ideas regards Sydney Schoolboy Rugby, so stop banging on like a teacher, we are not your pupils and do not need to be TOLD what to do.

AND stop making assertions like " I can tell you no one in the GPS really cares". Unless you know everyone in the GPS, how would you know!

Warn then you did, Joker, now their victims of their own Hubris. They thought they knew better. Now their commentaries are confined, to oblivion.

BK played Manly Colts 93 and graded 94. He played against Eastwood in first colts against my brother (they played at Joeys together). Eastwood beat Manly in the 93 colts GF with BK starring for Manly

Hang on, no one from the 92 blacks played for Eastwood in 93… otherwise this yarn is accurate.
None played the GF I watched BK play Dave Clark, Ballesty and Dodds (all Joeys 2nd XV 92) in the trials and I know some had game time during regular season. Over 30 players played Eastwood 1st Colts in 93

The riverview inside center next year will have big shoes to fill after Henry Oddonell and Julian Caillol.

Heard the race is between two boys who will be year 11s next year. Meaning the backline will be 9. Curl 2ndxv 10. Dillon 1stxv 11. Flynn E 2ndxv or Tom Hartman/16a 12. Sam Terry, Sam Sharman, Jeremy Newton, 13. Liam Grover 1stxv 14. Pat Spora/Dan. Cummins 15. Nick Newton
Tom Hartman is an outstanding player and a great lad. I reckon there could be a second Grover in the backline to make it 3 in the team.
