I’m rewatching now too and just finished the first half. I reckon the yellow card on Wright was very stiff. Penalty sure.

I don't understand why there are this many of these type off yellows these days. Same with Gordon's yellow. 7-8+ years ago (or maybe longer) these were unheard of. Happens every bloody game now.

Swains I understand. All these other yellow cards are popping up all over the place. Scrum yellows, maul yellows, line-out yellows. I don't know what the answer is but it's ruining the game.

Think about a rugby game 10 years ago where 3 yellow cards were issued. It would be headline news. These days we hardly even bat an eye. It's just part of the game.

Yeah, the absolute hysteria around Wright's yellow card is stupid, he saves probably a try, then gets out of there but in the way where it was and the ref calls him for slowing it down.. tough but probably fair.

Most people calling for his head dislike him as a bloke more than his rugby... yes he has given away 2 yellows, both times probably saving a try...
He still has a bit of rocks and diamonds about him... but has been better than some give him credit for...

Completely within the rules of the game. The umpire also agreed with it and allowed it as it was within the rules of the game.

It’s like saying the proper thing for Barrett to do is deliberately run into touch

Having a beer with a few southerners watching the AFL final. Can’t see why you’d want to be an AFL referee. It seems to be all about the players and the game.

Wright followed by others clearly slowed down the NZ ball in a try scoring situation. Wright was the first to infringe.

Gordon was probably a bit unlucky but NZ would have certainly scored from that maul if no one had caused it to collapse. Him falling over in the path of it definitely contributed to that.



He's an idiot and a thug. I can't believe you can be so convinced that cleanout was accidental.

Watch it again. Wright got out of the way in a split second. It was really good play. Never a penalty.

At the time I couldn't believe it. He made the tackle. Fell on the wrong side and moved in under a second. Most refs would have said well done.

Turinui making the point that all these soap dodgers are missing; the lineout was always going to be the final play. Foley kicks it 5 seconds earlier and by the time the lineout is formed the hooter would be going

I can only hope we absolutely Rob the AB’s in Eden Park with call like that and see their attitudes change quick fast

A police officer can literally enforce traffic laws 1km above the speed limit you are done. Is that going to achieve the outcome of a safer roads and better drivers. Yeah doing more than 10km above I think you deserve the fine you are targeting the clowns on our roads.

Think of driving home from work today did you obey to the exact letter of the law every single road rule? I bet you would have a dozen fines and licence suspend by literal exacting interpretation.

I take your point, but equally - do you drive a bit more carefully in certain situations? Eg, in front of schools or when there's a cop behind you?

I can totally accept that the call was out of the ordinary and I'd be shitty if the situation were reversed, but given the ref's warnings, I also think that Foley must accept some of the blame. You gotta play the ref and he'd indicated he wasn't in the mood for any messing around.
