Gee our attack has been clunky for the past three or four games, hasn't it?

Watching back the first 10 minutes, we actually looked pretty good for a bunch of players who hadn't played in weeks.

McDermott has a dart. We run a couple from the back rather than just trying to kick it. Off the goal line dropout we made a good attack but didn't support the ruck quickly enough. Some nice, contestable kicks that we profit from by going wide and having Holloway and Hooper run into space.

Sure, it looks much better with Kerevi and Koroibete just smashing blokes out of the way, but it would also look good if we protected our ruck ball a bit better.

He's not overrated. He's last man standing. Kerevi is unavailable. Simone is gone. Foketi is just back from injury, originally not slated to tour because of his shoulder. No one on the forums is saying Paisami is the saviour of the Wallabies.
Paisami is solid player who went very well when thrown in against the French and then the ABs in his first year. He has some playmaking skills and can be very damaging in defense. He was far from our worst on the weekend. If anything he tries to do too much. I’d have him before both Foketi and Simone.

Simone never got a fair stab. He was certainly the better player in Super Rugby.
No chance IMHO and he had his chances at test level. Foketi looks good but he has not exactly set the world on fire either. Kerevi is obviously first choice but Paisami is a good back up.

I think Paisami is a pretty solid player, who (as Joe Blow stated) who has obtained a lot of goodwill from a strong series against the French last year, but I question the combination of Foley and Paisami together.

Foley's always been pretty limited in ball- playing (although a very dangerous runner and good support player) and looked the best with a creative 12 (KB (Kurtley Beale)) and freak fullback (Folau). I don't think Paisami is skilled to be the ball-player, or big enough to crashballer, that the Wallabies need to overcome the limitations of Foley at fly-half.

I doubt it will happen, but I'd be tempted to give Simone some time against opposition who aren't the All Blacks- he has more nuance in his game.

They said "very rarely".

Not "never does"

While I am here, I'll just make this observation:

You have never been a "neutral" as you claim.
Glad you know me so well , don't recall ever having met you. In saying I a neutral, I mean it doesn't worry me, when I lived in Aus ,Wallabies were generally my second team, same as Reds (apart from NZ teams) , now I genuinely don't really take sides. And I was a memeber of Reds for a few years etc. Not sure that what got to do with the discussion at hand anyway, but knock yourself out.
I will add I genuinely watched test on Sunday morning without caring who won.
And out of interest, very rarely does there need to be a citing when a ref doen't give a red card (just the never- very rarely you mention). I actually prefer a ref to try anf find a reason to downgrade to YC than the opposite, as they can be cited, and in test rugby you are without player for rest of game.

Dan: I admire your equanimity. Unfortunately at 75 I still find myself shouting at the TV sometimes. Sad really!

Mate I actually don't really shout at TV (used to a long time ago), though I admit to applauding a good move or try etc by any team whether it by my team or not, my wife laughs she says they can't hear you!!o_O
I really don't get too carried away with games, and it's funny, I will watch games from almost anywhere (in super I will stay up to midnight watching 2 Aussie teams, I watch NH club games, 6N etc etc ), and not mind who wins, I just love the game (I know I got a problem). I think why I don't bet on sports and not into horse racing etc, as the result is then the only thing that really matters, and I enjoy the whole games, and skills etc shown.

Maybe, Simone always played well at Super Rugby level but did not show much with limited test opportunity. Foketi may fair better with more time in the saddle. I think Paisami does offer a bit of a foil to Foley as he does have some playmaking skill(He can leave the grubbers out).
Obviously Kerevi has that 12 jersey nailed down tight, when available.

I thought Foley was hot and cold but he went alright. He nailed his kicks, did a few good things and lets not forget the match saving tackle he made on a big forward at full trot with only him between that bloke and 7 points. That did not look like the Foley of old in defence.

Paisami has had some stirring performances, mainly early in his career, but I would think DR sees him as his number 2 12.

Boys were a bit rusty. lets hope for a more cohesive performance in France.

His grubbers behind the line are so very often a genuine chance. There was a period (I think 2021 for the Reds) where he was doing a few too many, but he's reined it in again and they're threatening. Underrated string to his bow imo.
