He was at Appen before Rugby Australia. He's had a pretty successful career in business and obviously did very well out of holding a lot of shares in Appen.
His time at Rugby Australia was a pretty diabolical one for the game with the restructure of Super Rugby and the removal of the Western Force. The Chairman, Cameron Clyne was pretty involved through that period too.
In terms of your previous post about siding with Beale over McKenzie, I don't think that is true. Rugby Australia wanted to sack Beale but couldn't because of the outcome of the disciplinary process. Maybe it would have gone the other way if McKenzie hadn't resigned to avoid airing his own dirty laundry and instead fronted up to give evidence.

The case is getting ever more compelling. Right from when he was U20's captain I've thought McReight looked promising, but this season and last we've really started to see him develop into an excellent player. If Hooper is even slightly on the decline I think Fraser can absolutely step in as Wallaby 7, unless EJ (Eddie Jones) decides that he wants three bruisers in the back row.

I am also of the mind that Tate will be in the 9 behind wing commander White. Great game btw and shows what we can do with strong D and breakdown work, suspect this had nothing to do with Thorn and more to do with the players.
Noticed in both games last night that several players are starting to lift either like the Reds out of desperation to make the qtr finals or trying to make the cup squad but I think this is too late for most of them as Eddie will have made his mind up on several players potential.

I didn't realise this, it shows us as being a bit stupid by throwing borrowed money on Sua'ali'i. No wonder that Marinos left we appear to be back in the badlands of drunks with a pocketful of money.

They’re right on one thing, it’s not NZRs place to comment. Broadcast revenue sharing agreements existed in SANZAAR for 25 years and mutually benefited all parties including NZR.
maybe NZR should focus on repairing the disaster that they’ve created in Moana Pasifika, they’ve taken a great PI concept and $millions in WR (World Rugby) funding; and turned it into an Auckland team that can’t draw a crowd and has zero interaction/engagement with the countries and communities it supposedly represents.

I take it you are OK with RA spending 6 bloody million on a kid who is struggling in league (according to several here) and puts bugger all into grass roots rugby. This smells like a guy with a big ego along with a coach with a big ego putting themselves in the spotlight and crossing their fingers that it all turns out OK - somehow or the other. Couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery comes to mind.

He saved RA from insolvency and the game regressing to amateurism by making these bold calls, his ego also managed to secured a more equitable revenue sharing agreement for broadcast rights. People are quick to forget, he has earned the right in my opinion.
I also think theres a bigger picture going on here with guys like Suali’i that people are missing, it’s no coincidence it’s happening now during a period that they’re negotiating their PE value and broadcast rights extensions.

Are you sure Marinos wasn't the one who brokered this and McLennan is just living off his work? Doesn't strike me as a guy who could handle the details necessary to put a deal like that together.
Regarding broadcast rights I would be surprised if someone was stupid enough to up the broadcast deal based on the promise of great eyeball attraction in a 19 year old untried gamble...

what was the specific reason? don't think it would be a gamble on a 19 year old potential wonder kid who we were too stupid to take whilst at school or RA was focused on other things that amounted to two parts of piss all.
