Hi Joker

When was the last time an AAGPS 1ST XV team did not have at least one Joeys player ? Sure it's been a while.
Might explain why Joeys are where they are on the table. ( I know that's controversial and I'm not trying to stir up anything. I honestly think they don't have too many stand out players and those they have unfortunately are injured )

Give me the weekend. May take a while, Joeys did have a player in game 1. I will be checking for NO player selected in the AAGPS 1st XV.

Plus I have a couple of other requests to fill.
just for the record

@Joker, I thought there was a GPS 1st team between 1995 and 2000 with no Joeys boy in it.

Just wanted to point out one thing that I noticed during the seconds gps game. Hamish Grover’s scrummaging is insane! His angle is great and creates it almost impossible for the opposition to win a scrum.

Interesting to see the Gen Blue team come out. Can’t wait to see how Joe Dillon and Liam Grover perform with their chemistry going all the back to year 7

Joe Dillon - 18s Tahs
Hamish Grover - NSW 1

What does everyone think are the best games/rivalries in GPS sports?

view vs joeys would be by far the best.

kings vs joeys would come in close second, two biggest boarding communities collide.

kings vs newo is always a good match, with it being the first ever AAGPS game to be played over 153 years ago.

Scots vs shore can be a entertaining fixture with the battle of the beaches

1st place - Cattle dogs v the wild wolves when played AT THE SWAMP.
2nd place- Cattle dogs v the storm troopers, in particular when played at the Death Star
3rd place- Holstein cattle v the wookies when played at the brick pit. Atmosphere is hard on the bottom paddock.
4th place- Shore v anybody as they can be very passionate traveling fans.

Honorable mention. Barker v Joeys. The Barker fans are crazy and add in the girls who scream louder than the boys they can really add to the atmosphere. In 2022 they were incredible.

Just to add to @Eyes and Ears post about no Joeys boys selected for the AAGPS 1st XV I give you those selected from the weakest team in the 40+ years.

The 1979 Joeys team won 1 game, scored 44 points and conceded 88 points. Last on the table that year was Kings with a worse points differential.

Those with the badge signifies GPS 1st XV

* Mark Murray was in 1986 a Wallaby tourist to New Zealand (no test caps)

1996 had a crowd of 17,000 when they were playing for a prem

Gordon Bray summarised it all after the match when he said:

"But amid all the post-match euphoria the most poignant moments belonged to the losers. While the defeated Joeys players stood clamped in a circle, many weeping openly, more than 800 of their mates sang "You'll never walk alone" It was a spine-tingling moment. Both sides gave everything for their schools, It was a privilege to savour this unique annual slice of Australian rugby heritage."

Brilliant! The epitome of why schoolboy rugby is the best you will ever see!

Is that not though, a damning indictment of the game in this country? That a game between 17-18 year old private school boys, is genuinely the highlight. It certainly is the best Rugby to watch, but it is a disgrace on the leadership and administration of Rugby in this country that it is so. I suppose one should not over think it and just enjoy the specatcle, but for me it describes a big reason as to why the game in this country is badly broken.
