Looks like you might need to continue that hatred. St Kevvies with a record-breaking 11th premiership, winning 43-28. Fairly heated game, with lots of BS flowing before the match, but it looks like the pressure got to Brighton, and the experienced StK got the win.

For a Stk fan the sweetest try is probably the steal 2 metres from the StK line, then for the FB to run 98m and score.

Few videos floating around on the socials of high shots, tip tackles, and general stupidity. Trying to get my hands on one now, but I think the Brighton GS facebook page has one.

Where does world beater come into it? You said quality, which, while accurate in a number of areas, has two of which are rubbish.

Leota and Ekuasi, while not at the same standard as pure 8s for the international arena as Valetini, Gleeson or Wilson are, are very good Rugby players and at Super level are more than capable of slightly adapting their games and providing a different but equal impact to those players.

And while Anderson lacks an individual "elite" attribute that will garner him any extended international selection, he has a very strong all round wingers game: he has the size, pace and rugby intelligence to be a strong carrier and good finisher, and an excellent defender, particularly in one on one tackles and at the ruck.

Those aren't positions I see us being exposed in.

You obviously don't hold a high opinion of Daugunu so I won't linger on him (note I did not indicate the 11 jersey either) or any of the other wing options, but in addition to the issues at scrum half and inside center you highlighted, we lack depth at Lock after the two starters, we lack a back up stand off, and both our 1 & 2 hookers have had extensive issues with throwing. To me, those are the obvious "playing squad" issues which our season will depend on, not which players start at wing or 8.

I wasn't there, so going off second-hand info. I'm told a few late try to Brights helped balance the scoreboard, but I think STK controlled the game for the most part, when when they were down to 14 men.

Yep I thin you articulated the weaknesses pretty well, to me the keys are at 9 and 12 within the starting 15.

No, it won't. It's a bit of a missed opportunity as numbers aren't that great outside the powerhouse schools (St Kevins, BGS, MGS, SC), as compared with previous years. I think with some of te RS schools also playing the schools league comp, there will be further reluctance to move away from their schedule.

the 16's squad just came out & only 4 aps kids all from the powerhouse schools. Geelong Grammar in an interesting one for me. Surely out off all the kids that board from up in the riverina & golden rivers they surely get 15 competitive.

the 16's squad just came out & only 4 aps kids all from the powerhouse schools. Geelong Grammar in an interesting one for me. Surely out off all the kids that board from up in the riverina & golden rivers they surely get 15 competitive.

They've clearly backed players from the '22 squad, so that means players from the Rhinos, Melton, and EH return. Odd that only one established Hooker is selected, but I'm sure they have a plan. I'm not sure how the selection process worked, given they cut 120 down to 45 without any form of match or even contact training. Very hard to pick ANY squad off one two-hour training session.

Geelong U16s were good this year, and I think they went through undefeated. Sadly, their first XV was garbage, losing a fair chunk of their matches, and a few forfeits thrown in for good measure. Hopefully, they recruit well from SIRU and RRU for some decent talent.

Looks like it hasn’t been mentioned but Rebels confirmed today that they will be heading back to Japan this year. October I believe for a game against partners Kintetsu. Be nice to have a longer tour than mentioned but it’s another game to the much needed length of the season.

It's not too optimistic, but I feel like they might have mentioned that if it was lined up. Could all still be being worked out though - might be they play a closed doors trial at the start and a proper game at the end like the Reds did last year with Saitama
