Australian Rugby / RA

No offence but Nucifora ran high performance units at a time of sustained mediocre performance.

IMO, he’s the Anthony Siebold of rugby (i.e powerpoint king)

i’d rather listen to Poido in the corporate box. :)
How to cause rapid tumescence / detumescence for a certain poster...

Yeah, and we get buy in from the fans, who come to watch a competition with unpredictably of outcome and an Australian Champion, which generates money and eyes... which in turn gets better players and more opportunities for people to play rugby, which gets more teams and more money and more players and a better competition.
This is the crux of the issue. The game here is bankrupt, $40million in debt, three franchises essentially on lifeline. The Rebels are history in the next year or two.
RA are gonna borrow $60 million to operate over the next few years with the best case scenario being every cent of profit from the World cup will just pay off debt.
The game here cannot sustain this with an ever declining supporter base.

Except both those countries take part in an annual, international competition.

Their domestic competition (English Premiership and Top 14) is their 3rd tier. Their 2nd tier is an international comp - European Rugby Champions. The equivalent of Super Rugby - the competition you guys don’t want to participate in anymore.

I’m being told that the Australian domestic competition would be the 2nd tier and I’m being bitter by calling it 3rd tier?

This is some NZ hatred right here

Darwin's work never seemed that amazing to me. It's basically - if you have two great players that play together regularly they will be better than two great players that don't. It's not exactly revolutionary.

He admits himself that if you have two average players with high cohesion they still probably won't be better than two great players with low cohesion.
Isn’t Gainline the rugby version of Leading Teams - use your football ‘credentials’ to flog corporate team building?

Every other sporting league in existence. I think at this point you are just trolling.
Name one.

English and France have been mentioned and yet their clubs are aiming for a Super Rugby like comp.

The one you guys don’t want to participate in.

It’s like talking to a brick wall

1. We want to take part in an annual, international competition. A Southern Hemisphere Champions cup. We have only mentioned it 100 times ffs
2. The top 14 is in no way a third tier comp, and winning that is just as important as winning the champions cup. Same as the English premiership. It’s exactly the same in Football with the Premier League/Champions league
3. I’m convinced at this point that you have zero idea how club comps even work in Europe

You would be wrong, Nuicifora had developed Rugby Australia into a global powerhouse by the end of his tenure - No.2 in the world for 3 consistent years before he left (2010, 2011, 2012). During this period the Australian Super teams were extremely competitive against NZ sides and had an overwelmingly successful record against SA opposition - and similarly under Nuicifora the Irish provinces have thrived with Munster, Connacht & Leinster winning all but one (Scarlets 2017) Pro14/URC title since his arrival 9 years ago.

i've been trying to think of some more unique ways of dealing with our pro teams/SRP (Super Rugby Pacific) (Super Rugby Pacific)/cohesion/wage costs/attractive tv product etc....

Now i'm walking into some murky areas here so no blowing up at me. this whole topic is full of landmines and emotions.

so Aus should only have two teams in SRP (Super Rugby Pacific) (Super Rugby Pacific). its the concentration of talent we need to build successful Super Rugby teams that can re-energise the two key rugby markets. and it means more of our test players are spending far more time playing together. the pay for players in these teams will be a separate "pay grade" to the next level down. this can assist with managing wages. The teams are Reds and Tahs. These two teams will be largely overseen by Rugby Australia for high performance matters - S&C, coaching appointments etc.

Next step down - SRAu if you want to call it that - teams are QLD, NSW, Brumbies, Rebels, Force. and maybe a sixth from somewhere if it makes sense. pro contracts at a lower pay grade. but still enough jobs to keep our talent in the country. of course they wont be paid like OS but it will mean there's a clear separation between remuneration at this level and the very elite international teams in SRP (Super Rugby Pacific) (Super Rugby Pacific) and the Wallabies. These teams will have strong support from Rugby Australia for high performance matters, but will be largely run by the state bodies. as will the U16 and U19 Super Rugby teams. these comps are all clearly development comps with the top level teams still having a level of prestige in winning an Australian GF. But its undoubtedly about building a player for the two international levels of the game. This comp can also be the right size for its market. smaller stadiums if need be etc... more community based than big stadium sheep stations stuff.

I dont think we can have success in SRP (Super Rugby Pacific) (Super Rugby Pacific) with 5 teams. but neither do i think we can cut pro rugby jobs. this is an attempt at navigating that.

Timing of the SRAu, U19, and U16 can then be decided. but SRAu should be during the traditional "footy season" - and you'd hope it would get a decent amount of eyeballs on it.
Sounds like a good way to lose any support in the non NSW/QLD states by creating an unassailable gap in the tiers of pro rugby. Perth before the axing, and Melbourne now are steadily producing wallabies. We didn’t when the pinnacle of our game was ARS or Div 2 schools selection.

Yes but you can't have equal representation, the fact you have single entities in each state when NSW & QLD are clearly your strongest states.

We need to have a set up where QLD & NSW have more Teams to cater for the extra depth in players.

1. Do you want to play Super Rugby or not? Make up your mind.

2. If there is a competition above your current competition that you have to qualify for, your competitions can’t be on the same level.

1. In its current format, no. I want a Champions cup featuring NZ, Aus, Japanese, South American and PI teams as well as a domestic comp
2. We might as well stop this conversation as you clearly don’t understand how European club comps operate. The Champions Cup is very important, but is no more important for the Clubs than the Top 14 title, Premiership or URC

You just want the status Quo
