Yes I’m aware it’s dependent on clubs having adequate lighting and the extra effort for volunteers.
Friday night for the smaller clubs may appeal to guys who don’t play due to kids sports or work commitments.

Just starter playing in the hunter comp in their friday night 4th grade comp. 9 team comp, 2 games played at 2 venues each fri night, the bigger clubs host all 4 games if they have 2 fields. So only 1 or 2 clubs have to play host each friday night. 16 round comp (i think haha) so each club only needs to host twice, which takes the pressure off having volunteers available every second week to host. Games are only 25min halves so the night is not that long. 6.20pm game and 7.15pm game. All do done within 3 hours really.

Been great for me who doesnt want to commit to saturdays and training.

We have some huge match ups.

Div 2 UNSW vs Petersham
Div 3 Beecroft vs Hills
Div 4 Wakehurst vs St Ives

Could be a prelude to some Grand finals next week!

From what I saw Newport were exceptional hosts and really looked after Lindfield. Lindfield won a tight one in 2’s and won an arm wrestle in 1’s. Thoughts with the two Newport players that got absolutely koed going in for big hits and came off worst.

Beecroft over Iggies - 50+ in all grades. Beecroft are a quality outfit.
Hornsby over Blacktown - This one will be close. Hornsby to win 39-33.
Hills over Knox - I expect a back and forth game but Hills to come home strong in the last 20 and win by 14.

Predictions Div 4
Wakehurst over Balmain - What a match this is. Wakehurst at home is a hard task for any club in subbies. Wakehurst by 7.
Chatswoover over Mac Uni - A hard year for the Beacons. Chatswood are better than their ladder position suggests.
St Ives over Kings - A deep deep roster with big numbers this week for both sides. We look forward to welcoming Barker to Hassall in 2s as well. St Ives by 3.

I have not followed the lower divisions as much but good luck to those clubs as well.

@crushermoran tough week for your high flying boys. Bit of a reality check especially with a nasty Red Card thrown in for that tackle. How will the boys bounce back with out there leader round the park in Abbott?

I genuinely believe something like this but with 10s would be ideal.

Managed to get down to Kellyville to watch the battle of the west today. Was a cracking game of footy than went back and forth with Renegades coming home strong late.

What did detract from the great game was the actions of some of the raptors players. The bloke wearing number 9 but playing on the wing spent more time asking spectators to come fight him on the field than playing the game!

We’ve seen them in some ugly off the field action in 2021 which saw them removed from the comp for a period of time. They’ve also already picked up a number of red cards early in the season. My hot take is that at some point something will boil over to see them kicked out this year.

They did alright to clean up their act slightly after the 2021 season but has the thuggery crept back in this year?

Time will tell.
