Sydney Subbies 2025

Wasn’t so much referring to the score line but the cases of beer for each grade and food. A big crowd at Porters that witnessed a tit for tat match where both sides looked good. Allen had a great game at 10 but wasn’t supported. Grace on the other hand was back to his best and played the house down.

Although Lindfield ending up winning convincingly it was a great game of footy
The cases of beers and the food would definitely have been appreciated, although I did hear that Lindfields club captain while leaving the club house after the boat race was having cans thrown at him as he left. I don’t see that behaviour as acceptable and do hope that the Newport players who took part get more then a slap on the wrist. Unacceptable behaviour and not a good look for the Breakers.

Hahahah man Newport is HATED in here. I’ve never had the pleasure of playing at Porters but it must be a vicious environment for the sheer number of blokes who despise them in here
I think you will find most of the comments are coming from Lindfield accounts who went very quiet after a poor Week 1. Youll find them in and out throughout the season based off if they are winning or not.

Any news on Colleagues. A few new recruits playing but decided to bottle a 9 point lead with 1 minute left in the game? The old boys surely wouldnt have been happy with that.

Waverley were brave down to 14 men and getting within 3 of HH.

Drummoyne looked in for a long afternoon early but kept the game respectable without ever looking likely.

Big day at Porters with the club again deliverying subbies lands biggest crowd to watch an entertaining day.

7-7 in 4ths with a strong defensive effort from our little charges keeping the 400kg Old Soldier front row at bay as best they could.

The woman came from behind to beat Barker in an entertaining clash featuring the odd classic belling ringers from both teams.

3rds featured some heroic decisions that saw Newport receive 4 yellows whilst Old Soldier (who the crowd dubbed the karate kid) stayed on the field.. I've never witnessed a player on multiple occasions kick players takewondo style with footy boots on. Thank god for NSW Rugby TV.

2nds was a real arm wrestle and 13-13 was probaly the just result until heartbreak on the last play of the day saw Old Soldier run 50m to score on the bell. Well played Lindfield.

1sts Still scratching my head on this one. Newport on top for the first 35 mins and looking extend their lead from 10-3 dropped the ball that saw Lindfield toe it 95 metres to score. Another quick try from them saw them go into the break leading 17-10 leaving the big crowd stunned as most of the action had been deep in Lindfields half. Two players yellow carded for a late high shot followed by a melee was the talking point of the 1st half. Lindfield turned it up a gear in the 2nd half and their excellent #13 tore us to shreds. Newport had 3 blue cards but were out played by Lindfield who played some excellent support running rugby.

Side note: I spoke to a guy wearing a Norths Rugby hat and asked him what he was doing at Porters. Perhaps word has got out that Lindfield has found themselves a talent that has ability well beyond subbies!

The week off couldn't come at a better time for both clubs as every grade was physical

I would like to actually go a step further, Score lines be damned! We are the most cordial and supportive crowd and will win the day purely on morals and ethics alone. Not to mention we’re out here revolutionising the culinary scene with rissoles but not offering bacon, egg, or cheese, these could win Michelin stars (probably).

Shame on Lindfield for not recognising and paying tribute.

When it comes to Michelin star canteen variety, would it be fair to say the Blue Mountains still offer the best spread? Especially with their signature Mountain Burger? Asking for all the front rowers out there!

Managed to get down to Kellyville to watch the battle of the west today. Was a cracking game of footy than went back and forth with Renegades coming home strong late.

Most importantly: did you manage to grab a Renegade Roll? The brisket was superb on Saturday.

I wouldn't go around assuming peoples body shape, it's 2025 champ. Skinny people like rissoles too.

Come to think of it, a bit of salt could go a long way to push us closer to that Michelin star, Thanks @subbies specialist! Owe you a can of mid strength.
Never said anything about your size, that's your own assumption.

Nah the burgers were ace, don't need any seasoning. The tasted great and were very humble

Yes I’m sure Newport Hospitality & Catering Team will be looking forward to the weekend off. Big game against mountains the following week - what’s on the menu? Seafood buffet under the goal posts? Lol

Div 3, Round 4 predictions:

LCOI @ Beecroft:
Beecroft by 24. I'll give LCOI two tighter wins in 2nd grade and colts though.

Blacktown @ Hornsby: Hornsby by 10. I'll take them in 2s also, with Barker to get them in Colts.

Knox @ Hills: Hills by 7. Two undefeated sides in second grade, I'll give the edge to Hills here at home. Knox to dog walk Colleagues II in colts however.

Results:

Beecroft 45 def. LCOI 15: Pretty in line with expectations, Beecroft are a cut above the rest of the division as it stands. 3 yellows for the men in Green and still a 30-point win, all 7 of their tries coming from their deft backline. It's going to take a great day from Knox/Hills AND a bad day from Beecroft to knock them over. Definitely brighter days ahead for LCOI though, who scored convincing wins in 2s and colts. Concerning lack of depth for the Crofties, but no issues for now. 3/3

Hornsby 29 def. Blacktown 5:
The jump to Div 3 is proving a tough task for both these sides, but tougher for Blacktown, who have gone on the road twice to open their account and will be excited to be hosting LCOI at Alwyn next week. Hornsby gets their first points on the board this year in 1s, with Blacktown discipline an issue for the second week in a row. Hornsby picked up 2s also whilst the remains of Old Barker dusted them in Colts. 3/3

Knox 27 def. Hills 26:
The game of the round did not disappoint, with 3 punters in here (myself included) going with the home team, Knox kicked a penalty with 90 seconds on the clock and held on for the upset win in an entertaining back and forth outing. Hills drops their first game of the year whilst a wounded Knox picks up a much needed W after last week's belting from the Crofties. Hills 2s look to be handy side and deserved favourites for now, whilst they may as well hand Knox Colts the cup today. 2/3

Onto next week, thanks to the wet weather switch around, Beecroft hosts for the third week in a row whilst Knox goes on the road again. Hills Beecroft the game to watch.

Yours,
PFE2

Div two predictions

Petersham Vs Pats
Pats need this one badly but Petersham will get the job done here, setting up a big game next week vs Uni. Shammies 30-22

Briars Vs Irish
Irish coming off a big loss will be keen to get back in the winners circle, how much does a 50 point loss affect a team, we will soon find out. Briars in a close one 21-19

UNSW vs Forest
Forest should pose a challenge to the students this week, can they limit Unis attack, if they can it might be tighter than people predict. Uni will win, but forest will put up a strong fight. UNSW 21-14
Konnichiwa gents

3/3 here.

Are St Pats looking to get any of their senior players back this year from 2024? Could be a long year if not.

Uni down at halftime and up against it from all reports, but came home strong to beat forest by another big margin on the weekend.

Shammies Vs Uni this weekend at Camperdown, who wins? The forecast might hold this clash off for another month.
