Canes backs played well especially that midfield but Christ it was like playing with one hand behind your back at how often the Canes were offside and just sealed the ruck.

That penalty on Dre made no sense. Neither cane forward got low at the ruck and he went straight over.

I get ruck penalties being much more grey and harder to enforce/enforcement being more variable. But the amount of basic knock-ons that have been let go this year resulting in enormous momentum swings is just dumb and terribly counterproductive. Its awful to watch - even if you are a neutral its fucking annoying.

And then you juxtapose that with the NRL where they are on knock-ons 100%. Shows how far behind Union is atm IMO. Get the basics right consistently if you want to be taken seriously.

I find all the NZ refs just have the oddest interpretation of the ruck. I’m not sure how you can call Dre for sealing but allow constant off your feet jackaling? It’s such a weird look seeing a team get penalised for making a break but getting “isolated”. But reds needed to adjust.
